Meg, I noticed that when I scroll down to the bottom of her page, then click the "next" page button, she shows the previous blocks and not all of them say "retired". I wonder if that is how she is making the different blocks available. I keep checking and 5 and 6 still say "retired". Wendy

Wendy,

You must have the patience of Job to sit and go back through 30 days of blogs. I applaud you. I was not aware that any previous blocks were still available, except for yesterday, of course.

In her blog on May 17, Gayle states:
Starting today, blocks will be posted for 2 days (48 hours) and I’ll have a catch up day so you can get blocks you may have missed.

That sounds like she will schedule a day where all the blocks will be posted. In any event, once this is done, we should be able to make sure all who want blocks will get them.

Block 30 is up. This is what Gayle's blog says today:

At any rate here’s what we’re going to do with the Sally Post Floral Sampler -
On June 7 all of the blocks will be available online for free. That’s my birthday and I’m throwing myself a party. You’re all invited so stop by and get all the blocks you may have missed. I’m going to celebrate for two days so you have until the morning of June 9 to check in. After that I’ll go back to the block of the month format that’s on the quilt’s page. That way new quilter’s can start the quilt and collect blocks on a regular basis. I know there will be someone who can’t wait for each month to pass so the complete pattern will be in the online store for purchase.

After the 9th, any BCer who missed a block can come here and we will help you out. Sound good?

Sounds good! Big Grin Thanks, Meg!

With the help of my DH I found the reason why I was having problems printing the blocks. It was in a printer setting that was somehow changed. So now it is all good again. Smile

Not sure if this is a case of curiosity killed the cat or not,..... but I have noticed the last few blocks have seemed to more ambitious than many of the early ones. I am sure that Gayle was saving the really stunning ones for the end for dramatic impact, but it does make me wonder..... Did Sally Post start with the fancier blocks, get bored, and finish using simple blocks just to get the project done? Did Sally Post start with simple blocks and as her skill and confidence grew she added more ambitious designs? Did she create all the designs or were there two designers on two different levels of skill?

I think that is part of the appeal of vintage quilts, for me anyway. I guess you could call it romancing the quilt; looking at the clues and trying to unravel the story. The neatness of the stitching, the complexity of the design, the sophistication of the palette. It is never possible to completely decipher the clues, but it sure is fun asking the questions!

I am with you Meg....wish there was a way to know (for sure) what Sally's line of thinking was for this quilt. Oh well......will keep wondering with you!!! Wendy
