I like to read Holly Holderman's quilt blog and she has been running a daily entry of "A Dozen Designer Doll Dresses" that show the cutest doll dress quilt blocks.
The first one is here: http://hollyholderman.typepad.com/holly_blog/2008/09/my-favorite-t-4.html There are more ... one for each day for the next few days. There was a computer glitch yesterday that did not let her load the next one, but hopefully she will have that fixed soon. I love these. "The Contessa of Cute" may be my favrote at the moment.
I am wishing I knew someone I could make one of these quilts for ... might need to just make one for me ...
Enjoy!
Pat

I’ve already sent the link to Cinda (she’s a doll nut for sure). She might have to make one too! Back when I had taken Ned’s quilt to the gal who was going to machine quilt it there was a king size quilt sitting on her couch ready for pick up. It was absolutely amazing! It was done out of allllllllllllll blocks with old fashioned women in big full dresses and parasols! The fabric choices were so beautiful (mostly replicas) and the hand work was just soooo nice! Hmmmmmmm.....I didn’t see that at the fair... I wonder why not?
At first (on the 3rd link you posted) I thought I had picked the red/white sailor dress as my fav...but then the coat is just sooooooo precious...then...then.. I decided they are all just too dang cute!!
Soooooooooo when you breaking ground on this one Pat??...lolol Oh... now this might be something for one of your block swaps? I have no little girlie girls onboard either Linda.. so far alllll boys for me. Carl’s granddaughter is almost 13 and I’m working on a horse quilt for her. Which...I’m SURE will be OUT on her horse right after she gets it. Needless to say I am MACHINE sewing the binding on that one...lol
Nice thread Pat! Thanks!.

Hmmm ... it really might be such a cute swap idea ... imagine if we just set a standard block size and let swappers use their own creative ideas and designs and methods ... we would get applique blocks, pieced blocks, paper pieced blocks ... dresses, overalls, coats, sunsuits ... accesorize anyway you want ...
I must resist ... I must resist ... (Do you know how many projects I have lined up to finish? ) ... I must resist ...

Pat, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!! (imagine a Borg voice here)
I would have liked actual patterns from Holly and friends, rather than just pics, but I guess, really, it's not that hard, now is it? Great idea, though, maybe for January/February start? And no, I'm not volunteering, sorry, I have WAAAAAY too many projects to finish off.
