Sheezzzzz....where are my manners? I got so excited I forgot to COMPLIMENT the links and quilt photos! I am so thrilled you ladies posted these links!

Auntie Pam..
Did you make the quilt in your link? Very very nice! I love earth tones! The quilt photos in your link remind me of some sort of modified rail fence. You were correct on rotating pieces as well. There are several placements of these chopped up blocks for different looks! It's mind boggling! I wonder if someone was really mad the first time they chopped up a block...then decided to sew it back together??..lolol

Cookie
Awesome table cloth! Your fabric choices are also gorgeous! It's just beautiful! More wonderful use of earth tones.

This looks like another fun and easy block. Variations really make it interesting.

When I started quilting all quilts looked complicated to me, until I learned to look at them one block at a time, and then it was easy. If an end result in a quilt turns out beautiful and interesting, it doesn't matter how easy the block was.(that can be our secret)

I will keep this block idea in my to do's. Loved everyones quilts and links, thank you.

This is NOT a quilt I've made, but these are a couple photos I came across when sniffing out the "DNP" online. I reallly really like this look of these fabric choices.

"The Disappearing Nine Patch" is by Nancy Brenan Daniel. She has a book out called "Slice 'Em & Dice 'Em Quilts" that has a bunch of different variations on the disappearing 9 patch. The first book is out of print.
There are several in the book that I want to try out!

Oooh, I really like the look of the planned one.

Seems like this'd be a good design for using up that fabric we buy because it's just so darn pretty but when we get it home we don't know what to do with it.

You just described HALF of my fabric stash..lol I'm a light weight compared to my quilting cohort! OMGOSH..she's to the point where she buys the BOLT of fabric if she likes it. Sheezzzzzzzzz.... I'm feeling brave when I buy a yard...lolol Then..if I love it TOOOO MUCH... I can't bring myself to cut it up. That is SICK...lol

Thanks for the name of the book on this method. I went to my favorite used book site and it's not there either. Bummer...

I am attempting to make a disappearing nine patch with with the pink and brown strips from the swap. I have the blocks made, but it is taking me a long time to put them together.

Vicky...
This block is a major quickie. Confused It's just 9 blocks (of any size) sewn together.....then 2 cuts....and 3 seams. Can I give you some tips to help you out? Were you able to view the tutorial?

Here... I scanned the page I printed yesterday. Maybe this will help you out.

If you were going to make enough for a bed spread you could even strip piece these and really zoom along.

I hope you can enlarge the photo enough to help you out. The top photo is the color placement of the basic 9 patch sewn together. Middle photo is the 2 cuts. The last photo has had the diagonal corners swapped, and then you just sew it back together.

I sure hope this helps. This is supposed to be a fast fun block. I feel bad that it’s frustrated you. This block placement won't give you the look of Cookie's beautiful table cloth. The picture tutorial I posted is just ONE of the many ways you can place this block for a very fun look.
