Some of us have talked in the past about doing this quilt someday. I started working on it a couple of weeks ago and know of several people who have or will be starting it and would like to have an album where we can display our blocks. I will set up a community album, everyone can post their own blocks (remember they must be under 50K) and then I will try to keep them organized so each person's blocks are together.
There are 140 blocks and you can make as many or as few as you want, in any order, as quickly or as slowly as you want. This should be a fun project and I hope many of you will want to give it a whirl.
The patterns can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/g5lqt I will also post the pattern link with the album for future reference.
One last note...I know that some people are wishing there were more applique blocks in this quilt (I'm one of them), so I see no reason why you can't also make any 6" block you want to add to your quilt, applique or otherwise. Just label it as an alternate when you post it.
Let's have some fun with these!

I'm IN! I'm IN! I have started on the ShoFly block A-2. It's an easy one and I'm going to try and use mostly scraps with a few pieces added here and there from my stash. Maybe I can make this entire quilt without buying fabric for it!! We'll see.
Thanks for getting this started MaryKS. I love this quilt and the 6 inch blocks are something I haven't worked with before so will be stretching.....my boundaries.

AHHHHHH MARY! You know I am in on this one too!!! I have been wanting to make it and I have started collecting the fabrics... Only have 4 so far! Oh well an excuse to go get more fabric and start another project! I dont want to be left out! Now do I want to machine piece or hand piece this one... hmmmmmm decisions Deb.
Mary, count me in for sure. I love doing these BOM's and challenges but I don't really need any more deadlines and commitments hanging over me right now -- that takes the fun right out of it! A whichever block, whenever you want type of challenge is perfect for me right now. Thanks for starting this one!
Well I ran into a bit of a snag setting up the album. It looks like only moderators can move things around in community albums. I've asked Kim if this is something that can be fixed. If it isn't, then I'll have her delete this one and set it up as private and do all the posting so that each person's blocks can be kept together.
Connie, FlaDeb, Donna, I'm happy that you are interested in this challenge. I plan to make mine using primarily two bags of scraps I picked up in a quilt shop in Wisconsin that Maria took me too. So not only should I end up with a pretty quilt, but it will have memories of meeting someone special.
Deb..so far I've machine pieced, hand pieced, paper pieced and appliqued. So I think you might end up doing a little of everything. Or you could certainly do it all by hand. I'm stretching my skills big time to do these small blocks, but hey, isn't that the idea...to have fun while we learn something new and different?
Glad to have company.

Jacqui, of course you can. All are welcome...the more the merrier. Warning...they really can get addicting (isn't that true of everything in quilting). I'm surprised how mnay I've done in two weeks, but they keep calling out to me.

Thank you I just went and looked in the album, your blocks are beautiful ( as usual) I have never done 6" blocks so this will be fun, looks like quite a few paper pieced ones too, something I am not comfy with at the moment but want to get better at .... so what better way JAcqui

So glad you decided to join in on this one too Jacqui! It is going to be lots of fun and like Mary said I think it will stretch our comfort zones a bit. I know one of the blocks down the quilt a bit has some very tiny pieces that will certainly be a new thing for me!!
