Just found one more tutorial from Sharyn Craig on HGTV

Pictures are clickable.

This makes a point I should have and forgot to.

Didn't I read somewhere that "Y" seams could be paper pieced? I think I will attempt that with my next Y seams.

Just take your time and if you get frustrated lay it down then come back to it later...that always helps me.

Ah, shucks! Thanks!~ Smile

Carol Doak mentions it in an interview I found on Google (Kathkwilts.com)
She says to pin one side, sew to the middle, pivot around the needle, and sew back up on the other side. Will definitely have to try that! She shows it, apparently, in her book "Easy Paper Pieced Baby Quilts".

Yay, more info for my grey matter to absorb!! think it'll stick?!?!

Priscilla -

Oh don't give up!! I am a brand new quilter (this is my first pieced block project) and it is great fun. The best part is that you can choose from so many patterns!! I like the blocks, but have really been picky about choosing easy ones and absolutely NO Y seams for me yet!! That is something I plan to tackle down the road... Still, I would recomend staying away from the Chinese Coin block... I think it is cursed!!

Good luck!

Jess

The 6 inch blocks are harder for me because I have big fat hands and bad eyesight. That is one of the reasons I gave up crochet. Frown The cat quilts were easy because they were not set in seams. Nice easy strait stitches. Thank goodness.

Now on to the blocks. I have finished 3 blocks. I will post them later in the evening after supper. I did do the ny beauty one. Loved it. It was much easier than the star. I do welcome any pointers good or bad.

That star block... I put a small circle to cover the bad bad center. The set in part was ok the center was kind of crappy. Live an learn. I had to use freezer paper then I would run a needle and thread through the stop points leaving enough thread to pull them together. Instead of using needles. It worked out ok and I am happy enough with the block. I am almost done another block. It's an easy one.

Thanks for all of your help. I will go and check out all the tutorials you have listed. Thanks again.
Priscilla

Thanks. Actually I didn't have enough white or tan. Maybe I can get the Men interested in it on ebay. LOL. Have to think in what makes a sale. Hopefully I can get a few more done later today.
