Julia..you must have inspired me. I could not get to sleep last night for the life of me so got up and made A-8, Star of the Orient. I really like it as it reminded me very much of the Double Aster block that Pam picked for the BPS exchange last year and I subsequently used to make a large quilt. Maybe the damn is broken and I can get more made today before getting involved with other projects. I'll go post it.

Once I got started working on some blocks for Sylvia's Sampler I did three more blocks today and this evening...B4 Children's Delight, B5 Grandmother's Flower Garden, and an alternate applique block I found in a magazine called Celestial (with added center circle). I discovered just how difficult it is, for me anyway to keep needleturn symetrical and evenly spaced when it is this small and this close together. I can't remember who is is that is doing the BA Challenge blocks in 4" size but I have nothing but admiration for that ability. This was maybe the hardest appliqued block I've done, trying to make it come out right and I probably shouldn't even post it as it is pretty darn wonky. On the otherhand...I tried..and it's my quilt, so it will probably go in, wonky or not.

Oh, fabulous Mary! You have me laughing here - I love the appliqued block and think it will be a great addition to your quilt. I think it is the little imperfections that make this stuff our own. I have to think that way though, else I would lose my mind with every block!!

Mary - I looked at your album and could not find "wonkies" so if you have not put them on yet, I prob'ly wouldn't be able to pick out which ones you were referring to by then. Anyhow, I think it would sorta give it a folk art appeal...very high in my book!

You're too kind, Tata..and pulling my leg at the same time! The really "wonky" is "Celestial" the applique I did last night. Just posted five more I did today..almost have row B done. That feels good since I hadn't worked on any since August. Now I need to get on to other things for awhile. That's the trouble with these..once you start it's so easy to just keep going..but I do need to pace myself with them.

I don't pull legs, Mary! Only from crabs! ;-)

Looked at your Celestial...still NOTHING wonky, and looking folk art. You've maintained your reputation for excellent work as always!

Mary - Love the new blocks and don't see a 'wonky' one in the bunch! I love your applique!
I have a few more done - just need to take pics. I am having a hard time using different backgrounds for each block tho. I may have to switch and ust use 2 or 3 different backgrounds for the whole quilt.
What is everyone else doing about the backgrounds?

Thanks, Char. Like my other BOM's I'm using scraps, so I have no idea how this will turn out. I have a bag of scraps that I bought last year when I met Maria in Wisconsin and we went shop hopping. I'm mostly using that..but who knows what will ultimately go in? My theory is if you have enough different fabric then anything goes.
