Meg..
Thanks for responding...NO QUILT PHOTOS?????? NO way!!?? REALLY??? Get outta here...really??? Photobucket is easy to conquer. It's changed some since I helped so many newbies with it years ago, but still...it's pretty user friendly. My father was an amateur photographer in WWII and amassed a fantastic album that we are hoping to get donated in his memory to a WWII museum in San FRancisco. I fully relate to the lifestyle of light meters, tripods..... filters...hankies over the aluminum flashes to soften them...etc etc. We had burned up flash bulbs rolling around our house by the droves as kids...we played with them like toys. My dad photographed alll my older cousins weddings, and we had a dark room in our garage for black and white developing. My dad never did a hobby half way. Having said THAT I think I would trump my husband’s perfectionist tendencies and have some fun on my own...lol Hobbies are supposed to be fun not work! My photos are alllllllllll taken with a fairly inexpensive digital. As a rule.... my projects are tossed up on the couch... kitchen table... my bed or ironing board to take the photos. I photograph a lot of the African Violets I raise on the kitchen table or the stove...lol Nothing tooooo professional about those set ups...lol My flannel wall is made up of 2 flannel backed table cloths from the $1.00 store (which work great I might add...lol). No kidding...just go get a cheapie digital camera and have some fun! I’ll admit to being a bit of a rebel when it comes to a husband telling me what to do *gasp*...cause that ain't gonna happen at this age My photographing instructions to you would be.... #1....Throw the quilt on the couch... #2.... Take a photo... #3. ...Look at the photo #4.... Go move the tennis shoes, purse...broom...and laundry basket that showed up in the photo background that you didn’t notice before. #5.... Set up the picture again.... #6. ...Get after the dog for trying to lay down on the quilt edge while you’re repositioning it. #7....Take the photo again #8....Realize the light is too low....go turn on more lights.... #9.... Take the photos again again #10.... Upload to the computer (easy process depending on your camera) #11....Upload to Photobucket.... #12.... Post it in the club..... VOILLA! Nothing to it..... piece of cake...walk in the park... sorta... Or...after step #10 just email your photo to Oknana, or Betty to post for you...lol Off to enjoy the evening. I hope you take my advice to heart and have some fun learning to capture the beauty of your work. I lived an oppressed life for 25 years where my husband was the ruler of every move I made...and every breath I took. Oh boy...how times have changed...lolol Life is good... sewwwwwwwww good!...lol poof* "When I'm good... I'm very VERY good, but when I'm bad... I'm even BETTER!" *~Mae West~* . . |

Oh Felicia-
I don't begrudge him his eccentricites one bit! After all, he indugles my every whim for fabric, sewing machine, etc. And since it is getting so difficult to find the photo chemicals for his darkroom, he has even bequeathed me his 7-foot custom made stainless steel darkroom sink for gardening and fabric dyeing. If I made him sound like an ogre, I apologize. He might not be green, but he is just a big softie like Shrek. I can be patient. I find it is much easier to keep him wrapped around my little finger if I bide my time. LOL Being a feminist doesn't mean I can't still use feminine wiles when it suits me! hehehehe Meg Proud Coastie Mom http://www.myquiltblog.com/ohiorose53/ http://www.serialquilters.com/ohiorose53 I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, you're right to say it. Lol, Felicia! I love steps 4 - 8. Sounds just like home. In my case, though, it is a cat or two that gets in the picture.
Meg, we really would love to see your quilts. That Red Emporer Block is really nice. On with the quilt block game ~~~~~> Roman Square ! |

Meg
Hmmmmmmmm...your statement of “Getting him to take pictures is like having teeth extracted without novacane. Or giving birth without a local!” could possibly be WHAT got me to believe your husband could be a weeeeeeee bit dominant and over bearing ...lolol I’m glad you have him wrapped him around your little finger...(if that’s what floats your boat...lol) That wasn’t quite what I got from reading your post...lol No biggie... Betty Last comment to Meg...and then we can get back on topic (promise)...and I’ll delete my post in a page or two so not to clutter up the thread with chit chat. I just wanted to respond to Meg...lol I’ll post a question to you about the Adobe Photo Express in the appropriate place. You have my interest. I have the full pro-version of Adobe, and it’s not user friendly. I have to THINK when I use it...lolol Pat... Glad I could make you chuckle...the reality of life is often DANG FUNNY albeit frustrating at times. Er..........a.......to be legal am I supposed to pop in the name of a quilt block here before I go? Ok.... Courthouse Steps (in honor of my jury duty last week) Poof* "When I'm good... OZARK MAPLE
http://www.earlywomenmasters.net/quilts/o/ozark/index.html Pat- I think your idea of adding a site for a pattern is brilliant. It aquaints novices with the variety of patterns out there and the sites where to find them, and even exposes some of us old-timers with unfamilair patterns.
