Just an update....

I had an opportunity for a job. The pay would take care of the financial concerns with paying for this lawsuit to a large extent, but there was no flexibility in the hours at all and it wasn't a good fit for me. Did a lot of soul searching, praying, crying, talking, etc this last weekend.

My husband and I talked about it alot and decided that I should pass up this opportunity, as it would fix one problem but create many others. We realized that if I truly need to get a paid position, there must be something better suited to our needs out there. In the meantime, we are living very carefully and spending nothing extra anywhere.

To be quite honest, passing up this opportunity has brought me great relief. I finally slept last night without crying myself to sleep. I think the anxiety the possible job was causing me must mean it wasn't where God is trying to lead me.

I don't know where God is leading me. Wish I did. I will worry over my finances some more, and continue to look for something which will help us more than hurt.

I found out last Friday that the builder who too k our money and never finished our remodelling has 9 lawsuits filed against him now. Most are from people who did work for him and he chose not to pay. It's a horrible mess and it is so unfair that one man's greed for material things has messed up so many people's lives.

So please continue to pray for us that we will find our way out of this mess. I am praying for a quick and positive resolution to this.

Thank you so much for your prayers. We are hanging in there, and I think all the prayers are helping a lot.

Bright.

Contiue to carry you and yours in my thoughts. Sometimes the path leading us to our destiny seems not to be very straight, but I think that is more often our fault than divine intervention. I agree the relief you feel is a sign that that was not the right opportunity for you. Now you have to do the hardest part, being open to the something better that is meant for you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. We had a bad experience with a contractor that we hired to put a roof on for us and he had to turn it in on his company insurance and they paid us to hire someone to come fix the mess and to have it redone.
The contractor came and took off all the shingles and left it that way for 3 weeks aand he had horrible ran and it ended up ruining walls ceilings, floors, etc. It ended up okay.

Hope something good comes your way soon.

I think maybe there was a little light at the end of the tunnel today.

We have begun gathering information to support our court case in preparation for a jury trial - the potential cost of which terrifies me!!! The info we got today goes a long way to support our side of the story and our claims of damage due to poor quality construction work. The photos and infrared images we have are impossible to refute. One honest subcontractor came back and helped us with that part of it.

Also, today, our attorney contacted us to say the other side wanted to have a settlement dollar figure to consider. I am still praying for a quick resolution and that we can restore our home again.

Please keep praying for us. I know the prayers have helped immensely. I am so grateful for everyone who has prayed for us even as I pray for everyone else on the board who has asked for prayers.

Quilts are comforting - but quilters sure are comforting too.

I am feeling a little more hopeful tonight, although I know we still have a very long way to go.

Just wanted to update everyone on what is happening with our legal mess with our house.

The legal system moves very slowly to be sure, and waiting this out has been PAINFUL.

We have been led to a very good honest builder who has taken the time to thoroughly investigate what was not done properly with our home addition construction. He has put together a bid for what it will cost to fix and finish our home. We are told it is all fixable, but it won't be cheap. We will be turning that number in to our attorney on Monday along with another figure of what we have spent in the last 8 months to make our home somewhat livable. The attorney for the other side has indicated they would like to settle without a trial and has asked for a settlement figure.

In the meantime, somehow, we have managed to stay just ahead of our bills. I can only say that the Good Lord must want me to be at home for a little longer because the dollars are stretching just enough. I am still not working, but I am also not spending a dime on anything that isn't absolutely necessary.

Please keep us in your prayers that we can negotiate a decent settlement AND that the guy will actually pay it so we can finish our house and move on.

Thank you again to all who have prayed for us. A few months ago I was really having a hard time and I was feeling really depressed and confused. I wish this whole thing had never happened, but it has been a faith building experience, and I count that as a blessing. God has been here with us through it all, and I know He has a purpose for this.

Just wanted to post an update and ask again for your continued prayers.

I was so hopeful that we could settle our lawsuit with the builder and move on to repair and complete our house, but here is what has happened.

The builder indicated immediately after the papers were filed that he doesn't want the expense of litigation and would like to settle this outside of court and "make this thing go away". However, he is in no hurrry to agree to a settlment because he has no cash right now. As long as he can stall this off, there is no financial consequence to him. He already took and spent our money.
The individual who defrauded us appears to be carrying on as if we don't even exist while we wait and worry and watch our house fall apart around us and pay legal bills to move this through court.

I try to stay focussed on the blessings I have and be thankful and to pray for others whose needs are greater than mine, but there have been some really bad days in there. I am going through another rough patch, and I could use the
prayer support. Thanks.... Bright

My prayers and thoughts are with you and for you and the family during this time, that all will end soon and you can have a home that is pleasant to live in without worry about what will fall apart. Builders should be more responsible in what they do to customers who strive to support them, try to keep a positive outlook which seems like you are striving to do.
