I am signing off now to finish shutting down our house before the storm hits later this evening. It seems that a lot of people have disregarded the evacuation orders and have remained in areas that are expected to be underwater. All prayers for everyone impacted by this storm will be most welcome.

I have to admit- I am starting to get terribly confused trying to keep all these names straight. Praying that Ike blows himself out before he has a chance to do much damage. Praying that the season is short-lived and spares our neighbors to the south (and my sanity- lol)

Last night I just could not sleep ... I was up in the middle of the night on the computer watching the news and progress of this storm ... and praying for all those in Ike's path ...

be well and in God's hands ...

My family is safe and sound! Although they will be without electric for a while longer. And the phones are hit and miss. I watched all day yesterday too. It's just hard to turn it off! I feel for all those people in Galveston. I can't imagine losing everything I have.

Yes, thank the Lord! They are all without power but oddly enough phone service never went out to my bro and sil in Baytown. They had some water into their living room and dining room but it was blown in and not rising water.

Someone brought them a Generator late yesterday and an a/c so they are comfortable. Lucky that the weather there has been cool.

I have 2 nephews and a neice in Houston, we've heard from 1 nephew and he didn't fare so well but that's all I know. I haven't been able to get in touch with the others but if there was a problem I'd have heard about it. It's just bad for that whole area! Galveston is almost gone!

Please continue to pray for all of those affected by Ike!

And not all of those affected are in Texas. We had four inches of rain from tropical air pushed ahead of Ike on Saturday. Rained all day Sunday when Ike hit with high wind advisories- almost blew my husband off the front porch. Spawned a tornado that touched ground for over two miles in a neighboring town. Plowed through an apartment complex- no deaths, but many of the buildings have been condemned for structural damage. Yesterday all of SE MI, which is nine counties, was under a flood watch. At least two rivers have already crested, including one that destroyed a Red Cross center. One or two more are expected to crest in a day or two. Lots of folks in several counties have two or three feet of water in their homes. The furry of Mother Nature to wreck so much devastation and still have the power to continue creating havoc in people's lives two-thousand miles away is rather awe-insporing in a terrible sort of way.
