Hi all....I just joined this forum a few days ago. I've been quilting for 9-10 years. I'm 42 and have two children, Ryan (21) will be 22 Mother's Day, and Kasey (9). I've been married for almost 14 years (May 21). We make our home in Tennessee just south of Nashville.

I think quilts are fun so that's how I got my board name. In the past, I've made traditional type quilts. In the last year or two, I've started making machine appliqued quilts because they're quicker to make. I have some artistic abilities so I don't buy many patterns. I can hand quilt but prefer to machine quilt. Hand quilting is just not my cup of tea!

I have a Hinterberg original machine quilting frame set up at 10' with a Brother 1500 machine for quilting. My quilting space is in my backyard. My hubby built me a 16x20 studio. I call it my "quilting shack". It has a porch across the front and a little porch that leads up to a side door. It is climate controlled so that I can go out at any time and get lost in my own space.

We have a Brother PR600 embroidery machine. We do some embroidery for the public. I'm trying to learn how to digitize using the Generations program. I went to a Steve Wilson (Anita Goodesign) seminar last year but have forgotten alot of stuff that was taught. I have the refresher video...need to view it again.

Here is a link to my pics...

Most of the quilts that I've made are posted. I still have some pics that I can't locate to post them. Feel free to comment on anything that's there....

I like it that this site has a chatroom. I had the chance to talk to someone earlier. Y'all have a nice set up on this board. I love the "emoticons"! Hope to fit in here... Cheer

Welcome to BC, Janice!

Your quilting space sounds wonderful ... like you own little quilters' home away from home ... paradise in your own backyard. Smile

May BC become your happy quilters' home away from home on the web!

I am sure you will make many friends here is a very short period of time.

I did very much enjoy looking at all your quilts. I love the way you take other people's blocks (like the ones from the family whose Mom had passed away without completing her quilt) and "finish" they up so nicely.

I like your scrappy quilts, because I like scrappy quilts.

I LOVE the big teddy bear/heart pieced center block. <3 <3 <3 Please tell me where you found this pattern. I know just the person to make this for!

Your little girl is a cutie. Loved the pictures of her with her "big girl" quilt! And your grandaughter is just adorable!

Look forward to chatting with you sometime.

If you want to join any of the swaps, you should look them over and when you are ready just jump right in. May Happy Blocks sign-ups are still wide open.

Have fun, Smile Pat

Welcome to the forum, Janice. Nashville, eh? Hmmmmmm....... you're not a Predators fan, are you? LOL We have a Michigan enclave of six or eight women, including me, who are looking forward to this evening to watch the Red Wings kick some Predator butt! LOL Well, a little good-natured rivalry never hurt anyone. LOL

Your quilts are all very charming. I really, really liked the flag made from tumbling blocks. I am a military mom so I have a natural fondness for anything patriotic. In a million years, I would never have thought to make the stripes undulate using tumbling blocks. That is sheer genius!

Check out the the retreat thread in Shipshewana. It is an Amish community in Northeastern Indiana. We'd love to have you come, and you would enjoy the fabric shopping!

Sorry I missed you in the chatroom. I try to pop in once or twice a day.

Welcome to BC forum Janice.
Loved viewing your quilts. I have the pattern of the lamb quilt too. Cute little quilt makes great gifts.
You are so lucky to have your own studio. I have an extra bedroom that my husband & I share for projects. He on the computer and me at my machine, but slowly I have taken over with all my quilting & he has a corner. Poor guy.
Anyway, welcome

Thanks everyone. The teddybear with the heart is a House of White Birches pattern. I have the book somewhere in my resources of patterns. It's called "Quilts for Kids". It was originally a 8" pattern but I played with the math a bit and he became larger. I'll look it up if anybody is interested.

I'm not a Predators fan. I have seen them play twice. Both times they played Birmingham in Nashville. At the time, they were the Nashville Knights. My friend is a hockey fan and she took me with her a couple of times. That's rough sport....when they highstick, they mean business, LOL...they sure do act out in that penalty box too. I like football but don't have a favorite team.

I have to admit that the Tumbling Block Flag was an accident that was in my favor. The quilt was called "ZigZag Flag". I got something turned wrong and it turned out to be a good turn, LOL. The stripes are all HST.

I was going to take pics of my quilt shack today and post them but I didn't have enough memory left on the camera. I'll get some posted though. I did get a pic of a quilt that I made for my DGD. I posted it. It's the first pic in my album...the bunny quilt. This quilt was inspired by the quilt in the following link. I drew my own pattern and made it my own. My bunny has bucked teeth and arms/paws....or whatever bunnies have, LOL. It needed something more when I finished it so I put ric rack on the seam between the background fabric and the border. The basket was woven and fused. This quilt was one of those "as you go" quilts, LOL. Here's the link that I was talking about...

I did chat with billswife a little yesterday in the chatroom. I like chat in that type setting better than some that I've been in. You get too many in the room at once and it gets confusing for me.

I'll go now. Hope to catch somebody in the chatroom later....

That's one reason we pick different colors in the chatroom; makes following the conversation easier. It gets quite colorful when five or six or ten people show up! LOL Like a conversation of confetti!

P.S. Wings beat the Preds 3-1. Sorry I just had to crow a little bit! hehehehe
