Your quilts are beautiful, Martine!

Although I can't read all the text, I can appreciate the work.

And I learned a word here I think:
tortelduifjes = turtledoves
Now if only I could pronounce it!

I love your origami quilt and the nine-patch in the squares. These are in colors that I like to often use myself.

One of your cats looks a lot like one of mine, only mine has more white on her face and neck. My kitties are such good companions.

Thank you for sharing your quilt photos, Smile Pat

Hi and welcome from South Africa, Martine. I love your quilts they're really lovely! I was surprised and pleased to be able to read AND understand your blog (Afrikaans is very like Dutch and I recall the Bible my father used was in fact a Dutch Bible). Smile

Martine-

Loved loving at the pictures of your quilts. The plaid square in a square is my favorite. I love red, white and blue quilts just as much as I love plaids!

Question? There was a picture of what looked like a book cover or a video box, I think about a family named Meijer. Would you explian that, please?

I ask because here in Michigan there is a huge Dutch community on the west side of the state. It is called Holland, imagine that!?!?! LOL They have a real working windmill that was brought over from the old country. Through the downtown and old parts of the residential areas, people plant tulips in the soil between the street and the sidewalk. Every year in May, there is a big tulip festival, complete with girls in wooden shoes dancing in the streets.

One of the old families there is named Meijer. They started with a little farm market some 60 or 70 yeears ago and now own a chain of grocery/department stores all over Michigan, northern Ohio and northern Indiana.

That's because I'm new on this forum. Confused Confused
But I have seen your slide show and you've made a lot of nice things.
In which part of Germany do you live?

Hello Meg, I have heard about the village called Holland. Maybe it started when people were homesick ( LOL ) but it's amazing.
And it is a book on my weblog.A very nice one.
It's a story about a Jewish family and written by a Swiss writer but I think it's fiction.
Greetings Martine

Im about 45 min north of Frankfurt. And I love the Netherlands. My other passion besides patchwork is rollercoasting Big Grin and we go once a year to Biddinghuizen by Dronten to the Six Flag Park. I also love some of the foods you have.
