Hi, Brenda, and to BC!

You will like it here. Don't be scared. Jump right in! The sewing is fine! We were all beginning quilters once upon a time. I have only been quilting for real for about three years and I still feel very much like a beginner. There is so much to learn. BC is a great place to find tips and inspiration.

Any swap or thread that you are interested in ... join right in! Yippee! Everyone is very friendly.

May you make many quilts and many friends here with us,

Pat

OMG, if your screen name is any clue, get ready for a whole slew of lessons with quilting as that basis. History; what is the inspiration for quilt blocks with names like "54 -40 or fight" or "Burgoyne surrounded" or "New Your Beauty?" Math; fractions, angles, geometric shapes. Science; botany and biology- natural fibers like linen, silk, cotton, wool, chemistry- how to determine the fiber content of a fabric or the dyeing process; even astronomy- look up a quilt block called "The Seven Sisters." Did you know there is at least one astronaut who is also a quilter and has taken part of her stash into outerspace with her? Sports, we have quite a contingent of Red Wings fans here from Michigan. Art, need I say more? LOL

The forum is very friendly and we are open 24/7 to answer questions. You rarely have to wait long for an answer. how can we help you get started?

April, you almost got that quote right (I'm teasing you) LOL; "There is no wrong way or right way, there is only your way and my way." And the corollary, "There are no mistakes in quilting, only design possibilites."

Meaning there is more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. The quilt police are a Fig Newton of an overactive imagination. Quilting is very forgiving, because there are no hard and fast rules engaved in stone, only commonsense guidelines.
