Hi everyone,
I'm Jill. I'm a-want-be. I live in Indianapolis, In and I landscape with native plants, hence the name.
Thanks for the warm welcomes.

Hello y'all Meow

I'm Dori and i live in Washington on the lovely Puget Sound. I'm an avid gardener, but back before i went to work full time, i used to really enjoy doing needlework, crochet, and sewing. I made alot of my own clothes and modified the fit of alot of my store bought clothes, but my machine hasn't been out of my closet in quite a while.

I'm a night owl, i work swingshift (4 til 12 midnight) and i only intellectually understand morning. When i have a white night (can't sleep) i sometimes see the sun come up, but to deliberately wake up for it? Probably not.

I have 2 grandkids, Kyle and Jacktiger, and two rotten kittens, Buddy and Betty. The 4 of them keep me on my toes.

I just recently moved from one garden to another when we sold our two story house and moved into a rambler, so i am doing alot of gardening from scratch, but i just love it. I brought a couple hundred plants from my old garden to my new one, and a bunch of them are still in pots in the flower beds.

I also play with indoor plants, and DB is turning me into an AV fan, so i think i need a garden window for the AV babies. I'm getting the fever kinda bad, i've been pinching leaves off of AV's in doctors offices, restaraunts, The Home Depot. . . . .bad Dori!

I appreciate the warm welcome y'all have given us. Have a great day! Huggies winkies!

Laterz, Dori

No. DB Felicia, a skidsteer is like a Bobcat - mini bulldozer kind of thing for moving dirt and gravel around. We bought 3 acres 15 months ago, all trees, and had a building site cleared. But since we wanted to do most of the work ourselves, we bought this thing for backfilling, levelling piles of dirt, and making a driveway. He has also used it to clear snow - he has a blast with it! Smile We will be using it to spread black dirt so we can seed grass, and there is a huge pile of pushed over trees that need to be cut into firewood, so the machine will come in handy pulling them off/out of the pile.
DH does not like rodeo - now, me, I like to watch rodeo, also hockey!Smile Go, Oilers!!! Smile

Ned, I'm in zone 3 for planting. You know, you could plant plants in a quilt block pattern if you were so inclined!! Smile I might just try that this summer with petunias or pansies or something.

Big Grin Gerda-The maps say I'm in zone 6/7-right on the line. But I've had plants winter kill that should be OK to zone 5 or 6.I think it's not so much how cold it gets, but how long it stays there.Mostly our winters are cold & rainy, with some wet snow occasionally.

Native Girl-

Indianapolis? Well, howdy, Hoosier! I graduated from Warren Central, but I am not telling you what year! LOL Razz

Most of my friends and I had spring, summer, or fall birthdays. We used to get a birthday cake and have a midnight celebration on the memorials along Meridian. We got to know the guards pretty well, and they always appreciated having a treat to go with their coffee.

Gerda, this idea makes my day! Smile

I have seen photos of "quilt gardens" in NC and IN:
http://www.amishcountry.org/QuiltGardens
but never the real thing.

That would be so nice. Hmmm ... wonder if I could manage a small one in my tiny garden patch? I plant annuals every year anyway.

Hmmmm ... I like this idea ... <3 Pat

Hey..Hey..

I was surfing patterns today, and found this fun quilt thread called "Show and Tell". It's just normal people posting their finished projects. I LOVE to ck out what other people are doing.

I got my mystery block pattern from the q-shop today. It's called Tennessee Waltz. Looks fun, and when mixed with the snowball block it really comes to life in pattern!

Here you go: Show N' Tell Quilt Projects

So Felicia... so is the Tennessee Waltz a "known" pattern that I can look up online to see what it looks like or is your class making these names up? Sorry if that's a dumb question LOL, but I know you'll answer it anyway! Have I told you yet today that I'm so BORED?!
