Hi! I just found this forum a few days ago and want to introduce myself. I just turned 50 this year and have been only quilting for around a year and a half! I love it and am really enjoying doing something with beautiful fabrics and making useful, colorful quilts. I have 2 teenage children, boy 16 and girl 15. My hubby and kids are away this weekend so I get to stay home with the doggies and bird and sew all I want! Hope to learn lots here and contribute what I've learned and get to know you all better. Happy sewing!

Hi, Randi,
to BC!I started quilting after I was over 50 about three years ago. I had made applique flannel quilts for my babies over 20 years ago without a clue as to what I was doing and then I did not pick it up again until they started leaving the nest. My three kiddos are all in their 20's now. (I celebrated having no more teenagers last year when my DD turned twenty.) I have only been on BC a few months but I have made many friends, learned much and have had great fun here ... I am sure you will, too. If you see a thread or swap that interests you, just jump right in, |

I guess I can add "State" and then you will know that SW WA is not WA DC. I live south of Olympia right between Portland, Oregon and Seattle. I also regret not starting quilting sooner, as I really wanted to make my first quilt for many years. Not the specific quilt I made, but just "a quilt". I regret not getting right on that when it first occurred to me that I could do it. Sadly, I was about 35 then. But had two babies, also had 2 step kids (great ones!!!)and working full time. I've always been the bread winner of the family!! Hubby couldn't bear to put his second set of kids in daycare, so HE STAYED HOME!! What a swell dad he's been all these years. Much of the time the teens were homeschooled, but next year the youngest will be in 10th grade and she will be going to our local high school full time. DH says he is looking forward to having someplace to go everyday. Wow! This has been a long ramble. I guess I'll be quiet now... Randi in SW WA State Randi ;-) |

Thank you so much for the great welcome!! I'm usually pretty quiet on lists, but I thought I'd better let you all know I am here in case I jump right in with a question or a reply sometime! I find quilters to be the nicest, most caring, incredibly sharing people I have ever met!!! No exception here, that's for sure! Thanks again, Randi in SW WA State Randi ;-) |

Oh, Randi! I am glad to see you made it to the introductions thread. Didn't I tell you these are the friendliest folks around? I have already welcomed you once, now I can do it publicly. Welcome!
