Welcome from Oklahoma too Deb! Looks like you are going to fit in just perfectly here. I have just recently picked up this addiction and started joining a few swaps. It's a lot of fun!

Thank you Jenell and Jody! I am in farm country (hay and corn...no wine), just outside of Charlevoix (45 min north of Traverse, our nearest large city). I love Traverse City and try to get there once a week but lately it's getting harder.. Always the problem.... gas or food or fabric! Can't have it all (of course you know which wins!). We go out to Leland and Mission Peninsula once in a while also... for the wine tasting ...mmmm...
BUT this week is the VENETIAN festival in Charlevoix so I'll be staying close to home. We have a new quilt shop in town and that keeps me busy buying!
Thanks all! I'll see you in the swaps!!

Welcome from an almost Michigander! I live in OH about a mile from the border but commute to the big M in Ann Arbor every day for work! There are a couple of nice quilt shops in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area that you will find as you spend time traveling to Eastern.

I am also a 50 something quilter, been sewing most of my life but only quilting for about 4 years now. I machine piece and hand quilt....so I have more tops than finished quilts Smile I love the look of hand quilting and find it very relaxing but it does take a while. We have had a baby boom in our extended family the past few years so I have made (and finished!) a bunch of baby quilts. I love scrappy quilts and especially 30 repros. I went on a road trip with a friend this week to Shipshewana and bought fabric and pattern for another baby quilt in 30 repros. Can't wait to start!

Hi Deb K ..I took a trip to Shipshewana about a year ago. LOVED it! We went on a Tuesday, shopped for fabric, then stayed the night and went to the auction. I bought a old quilt, that needs some repair, but I love it. What a fun place...I cant wait to go back again. We have the same taste in quilts. I have a boxful of 30s and 40s repros. I made a magic vine for my mother using some of them. Made a scrappy 30's out of some of the leftovers. I still have more and am trying to figure out a good use for the rest. Maybe a grandmothers fan?
