I'm sorry, Marie, I completely missed your post yesterday about rat rescue. My daughter is studying to be a vet tech. She started out in veterinary medicine, but decided she couldn't handle having to tell people their pets needed to be put down.

The vet she works for is associated with PetSmart and with the local humane society/animal shelter. In addition to thriving vet pratice and grooming sevice for the public, they also groom, innoculate, spay/neuter all the animals that are up for adoption through PetSmart.

Apparently, there is a local rescue society for exotics as well. Some of those animals were made available for adoption as well, and DDIL got to handle them. I was concerned at first, thinking that these may have been laboratory rats and hence, exposed to who knows what, but she assures me they are strictly pets.

The bottom line is that I think my DDIL is one of the most kind and empathetic people I know. She has such a strong emotional bond with animals. I admire the work she does, but no matter how many times she makes me watch the movie Ratatouille, I still think they are vermin! LOL

I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, you're right to say it. Voltaire
