Hi everyone. My name is Jane and I come from Stone which is a small town in Staffordshire. I found BC by accident when I was looking at quilting sites on the internet and couldn't wait to join you.

I've not really done any quilting before apart from a few wholecloth cushion covers but I'm really looking forward to learning. I also like baking, I make bread and cakes most weekends, reading and walking, and I do quite a lot of knitting, mainly for charity these days.

Looking forward to getting to know you all,

Jane

Hello Jane,

I've also not long joined BC and I'm finding it wonderful. Its a mind (or is that a mine?) of information. Either way I'm learning heaps and not only about quilting. The best part is the inspiration I'm getting to try new things as well as finish those UFO!

I live in Sawyers Valley in the hills of Perth WA, Australia. I've quilted on and off for 20 years, but I'm not very accomplished! Too much dreaming, not enough sewing! LOL I love hand sewing and have done a fair bit of cross stitch and embroidery. There is nothing like hand sewing to calm the mind and warm the heart. Love it.

Welcome and happy sewing.

Melita

Hello Jane@ I am another of the gals from Michigan- there are about six of seven of us who post regularly. Delighted that you found us. We are happy to answer questions, give advice, exchange recipes, share hugs and tears as need be. As of late, I have been working in my garden. I love English country gardens- I am not there yet, but I am working on it. Are your cakes for others or for your family? I have been known on occasion to bake wedding and birthday cakes for hire.

Good Morning and to BC, Jane!

I live in Massachusetts. I have only been quilting "for real" about three years, although I made flannel baby quilts for my babies over 20 years ago. I am a mostly self-taught quilter and I call myself an "experienced beginner" and will for a very long time. I find it so enjoyable and relaxing. I am putting the binding on a quilt today. Yippee! It gives me such a feeling of accomplishment to have created something from those lovely bits of fabric.

I have been inspired by and have learned so much from the friendly quilters on BC.

I also enjoy crochet and knitting, although I have not done much of either lately. I used to do embroidery, but my eyesight is not good enough for fine work anymore. I love to cook and bake for my family. If I am not quilting, I am reading in my spare time and walking is my favorite form of exercise.

Nice to meet you,

Pat

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I do agree about quilting being relaxing. My sister thinks anything like that is boring, but I find the repetition soothing.

Meg, I'm afraid my cakes are just for home consumption. I'm OK as a "plain" baker but anything fancy is beyond me (or is it? I must admit I haven't really tried. Problem is, just like all of you there's so many things I want to do and so little time.)

Pam is no longer online at all Meg. I apologise to Kim though,I mentioned Milica mainly because she is much closer to Jane than either Kim or myself.
Sorry Kim sweetheart, I never meant to not include you.

Welcome Jane! Lots of love and advice here for any situation. When I joined, I was on my first quilt and now I'm up to six! I couldn't have done it without these ladies.
