Hi all Smile Just starting to think about quilting again, so thought I'd join you guys and see what I can learn, as well as make some new friends! I have done some limited quilting in the past, I completed a cushion cover, and then started a very ambitious full-sized quilt, which needless to say is now languishing in a drawer somewhere Roll Eyes I have most of the squares pieced, I just need to put the whole thing together - maybe I will find some inspiration to get it back out and finally finish it.

Apart from quilting, I love cross-stitch, knitting and crochet. I am 44, living in England with my fiance and my 13 year-old daughter, SAHM for the moment, but currently jobhunting.

Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Laura,

Welcome from California Smile

I think we all have those "ambitious" projects that now languish in a drawer! I recently made a list of my UFOs, yes, there are enough for list, lol.

It sounds like we like alot of the same things, cross-stitch, knit, crochet & I am a SAHM Smile

Have fun here at BC - there are such fun & knowledgeable people here!

I look forward to getting to know you Smile

Welcome to BC, Laura!!

May you make many quilts and many friends here.

I only returned to quilting after a twenty year lapse about three years ago. I love every part of the process of quilting ... collecting fabric, finding patterns and inspration, cutting sewing, finishing. I think the most enjoyeable ... and time consuming part for me ... is the creative element of it. Even when following a pattern or using the couple of kits I have made up, I have found I had to change something to suit my individual taste. The more I sew, the more I am finding my individual style. I am now starting to make a lot of things by my own design. It takes me awhile to make each quilt, but I am so happy in the process.

I am not sure what I did to without my sewing machine time. I was mostly a SAHM while my three children grew up. It was when they started to leave the nest, that I took up quilting again. I even recenlty started taking a class where I am learning to hand-stitch the blocks. This is my first ever quilt class. Everything else I have learned either through books, on the internet or by trial and error on my own. I am finding hand-sewing very relaxing and thinking I am going to try to hand-quilt this one, too.

Happy Quilting ... Smile Pat

Laura, welcome from central Alberta, Canada! It was snowing on Thursday here, and is supposed to be in the high 60s today - like Meg said, the weather can't make up its mind! Ah, well, that's spring for you.

Hope to see lots of you on here. I'll be scarce as hens teeth for a week or two (maybe more? I hope not!) - we are moving end of the next week, and I don't know when I'll have internet again - it's hard to get high speed out in the boonies where we are going. Frown Anyway, I will have lots of reading to do to catch up, and I hope to see more posts from you.
