Well I suppose after posting a few times, I ought to properly introduce myself!!
I'm originally from central Kentucky (Lexington area) and recently moved up to northern Kentucky (more like Cincinnati)... it's nice, but people sure are a lot more friendly down home.
I've been wanting to get into quilting for about 2 years now and now that I'm done with college and about to get married, I've tackled my first quilt--a trip around the world in 9 colors. I used a speed-piecing method of sewing strips, cutting and ripping alternating seams. So, while this may be my first "quilt" it's not been super hard, because it's all been straight seams.
Anyway, about me... I am 24, I'm getting married May 17th, I work in the court system and love my job... I am a Christian, and fairly active in my church with singing and teaching kids. I've been sewing since I was about 6, mostly clothes though. My grandmothers both sewed and made a few quilts, but neither one taught me specifically how to quilt, just how to sew.
And I am just so glad I found this forum!! I think everyone is so friendly and helpful. It's like my little virtual quilt guild. I love it!

It sounds like your first quilt is a beauty. Please show us some photos.
I have not made a trip around the world, yet, but I hope to someday soon. I have a lot of other projects in the works though ... so many quilts, so little time.
Is your quilt intended as a gift for something special or to warm your own bed?
I have been quilting "for real" about three years. Over twenty years ago I made baby quilts for my babies, but I had no real clue what I was doing. I am the first quilter that I know of in my family.
I have been on BC only two months, but I feel as if I have made many friends.
Great to have you join us! Pat

Hi, Natalie. I'm a relative newcomer to the forum and currently live in Texas but I'm originally from KY. About an hour east of Lexington, a little town called West Liberty. My grandmother quilted and passed her knowledge to my mother, who in turn passed hers to me. I never really got into it until the past couple of years, quilting some tops that she left me when she passed away. There are a lot of good quilters in KY, as you can tell from a visit to any of the festivals there.

Natalie - I'm in Columbus Indiana and maybe an hour and a half from you. I tend to come and go here as I put a lot of hours in at work. The people here are so nice and I wish I had time to spend here more. Did you see the Retreat info? I just saw it tonight and I might go. JudyK
