I have been a silent observer to Block Central for a couple of years and decided to come out of the closet! I have been quilting for about five years and it has become my passion! I am working on the Somewhere in Time block of the month.....well actually that is only one of my current projects. I did the block of the month in 2006 and it is currently on my quilt frame. I also am working on a baby quilt for a friend at work. Plus a Grandma's Flower Garden that I am doing completely by hand, it is my 'to go' project. So that is 4 current projects, plus the three completed tops waiting to go on the quilt frame. Do you think I will fit in here? Oh wait I am also doing the Pinwheels and Posies block of the month, so add that to the list! Looking forward to getting to know you all better and maybe find a new project or two...

Hi, Deb,

Glad you decided to come out of the closet ... looks like you have been very busy in there making lots of quilts ... must be a big closet to fit your quilt frame in there, too ... Wink

I have a few of the projects you mentioned in the works in my own little closet here ... except the Posies and Pinwheels one ... that one is still on my "dream list" ... but I have been getting the block instructions every month. I have a pretty big binder full of dreams ...

so many quilts to make ... so little time! Big Grin

Looking forward to getting to know you better,

Pat

Welcome to the forum, Deb K. We are glad you will be joining in the fun. What part of Ohio are you from? I have lived in both NW Ohio, and in and around Columbus.

Thanks for the welcome messages!

Meg, I live in Sylvania, a suburb of Toledo and drive everyday up to Ann Arbor to work. I grew up on the west side of Cleveland and went to college in Bowling Green then never left the area. Wish we had a few hills to make the landscape interesting but I guess that is why we go on vacations!

Welcome, Welcome from a former Ann Arbor gal. I still have one son there but am living in NC during the school year and the UP in the summer. I'll be passing through your way in about a week.

It sounds like you have lots of things going on.... like most of us on BC. Always happy to have another person to share ideas and dreams with.

Welcome. It's easy to fit in here so jump in where you feel like you want to.

What kind of quilting do you do? Hand? Machine?

Thanks for asking....I do machine piecing but I always hand quilt. I am partial to traditional quilt patterns and love 30s reproduction fabrics. I am trying to get away from them at the moment because I have made so many in the past two years. I need to expand my horizons!

I had a lot of fun about 18 months ago when I designed my quilt room. My kids are grown and I took over one of the bedrooms. My DH made me a large sewing table with a "well" and a plixiglass suround to set my machine in, so I have a large flat sewing surface. He also made a custom top for a dresser that is for my cutting mat and a framed design board. I have a Grace Quilt Frame for quilting the bedsize quilts. I love it. Just wish I didn't have to work. Then I could quilt all day!

Welcome from NE Indiana! I'm not too far from you - just across the state line about 7 miles into Indiana - 18 miles straight south of Ft. Wayne.

You sound a lot like me - I too love the 30's repros (and even have a few small pieces of original 30's fabric! And I mostly machine piece, but hand quilt most of my quilts. Occasionally I send one out to be machine quilted - especially if it's a utility quilt - one that will be used a lot - but the special ones always get hand quilted.

Wish I had a sewing room like yours! I'm slowly moving most of my sewing gear next door to a family-owned house where my DD used to live (it was originally my grandparents' home). Over there I can spread out my work and only have to pick it up if we have a party or get-together over there.

You'll fit in just perfect here - glad you decided to quit hiding in the closet!!
