I am new here. I have been visiting the main Block Central for about three months now. It has such a wealth of information. Thank you to Kim and any other people who may help with the site administration for creating such a wonderful quilting site.
Recently, I started browsing the forum topics. I do not usually join forum boards, but all of you here seem so nice and helpful, I thought I would join, too.
Many years ago, I made baby quilts (not very expertly) for my three children. I did not find time to continue quilting while they were growing. The past few years I have started quilting again and I am loving it.
I am a self-taught quilter and I have made a few quilts, table toppers, pillows, etc. I have especially enjoyed making seasonal quilts for our home.
Next month, I will be taking my first ever quilt BOM workshop a nearby quilt shop. It is an Elm Creek Book Club and Sampler Quilt monthly one. A quilt group that combines my two favorite things: reading and quilting. How could I resist!
I am also planning to start the Block Central 2008 BOM. It is beautiful! I love sampler quilts.
I look forward to meeting all of you online and exchanging ideas with you!

Thanks!
Many lovely quilters from MI here. It's been very snowy so far here in MA this winter. We just had one of our infamous "Nor'easters" yesterday that dropped another foot of snow ... just after we had enjoyed a bit of a January thaw. Now, it is cold and nothing is going to melt for awhile. Oh well, good weather for staying inside and quilting and reading.
Yes, the BOM workshop is based on Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek Quilters series. I have actually already read all but the latest hardcover book. I am waiting for it to come out in paperback. I love this author and her characters and I am looking forward to the book discussion part of the workshop.
For the project, we will be creating our own Sarah's Sampler quilt. I am thinking I may use the new Thimbleberries Lake and Lodge fabrics for this quilt with a blue border. Like Sarah, I am going to make it for my hubby who loves blue.
I am going to be attempting needle-turned applique for some of these blocks which will be a new trick for this old, mostly machine quilter.
