ro BC, Pam!

I am also semi-retired, but I live in a medium sized city in MA. I made my first quilts over twenty years ago ... flannel applique baby quilts for my kiddos ... and I did not have a clue, but they were warm and cuddly and they loved them to shreds.

Then I took long break from quilting while they grew up. I started quilting again about three years ago and ... ummmm .... the first quilt top I made then was squares sewn together in long rows and then the rows sewn together ... I recently found a picture of it from her dorm room and added it today to my personal album page:
http://blockcentral.net/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/332604915/m/2201070963/p/2
She and I went on a shopping expediation to JoAnn Fabrics and she picked out the fabrics. Had I known how much brocade would unravel, I am not sure I would have let her make that selection. But this quilt is still together and on her bed.

I have since learned alot more about fabric selection and blocks. Big Grin I am still mostly a self-taught quilter.

I learn something new everyday Smile ... and make a new friend or two Smile ... on BC.

I saw your pretty table toppers in the other thread. We would love to see more of your quilts.

Nice to have you join us,

Pat

Pam!!!!!
I grew up in Clarion!!!!! Now how strange is that??? I moved away from there about 15 years ago and now live over towards Waterloo. My folks still live in Clarion (rural) and my sister lives in Goldfield.

scrapatches, those colors are beautiful! I'm tickled to know that others started quilting the same way I did. Smile

Jami!!!!! So did I! I wonder if I know your parents. I graduated in 1963 and left for Seattle in 1967. The quilt shop where I got the table runner pattern is in Goldfield -- I go there a couple times a month. What a small world! Big Grin

If I did it right, this link should go to photos of some of my quilt tops -- http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v66/AuntiePam/Quilts/

The sashing posts on the homespun quilt gave me fits -- I think I'll try that one again, but next time I won't use such stretchy fabric. That's it -- blame the fabric! Wink

Oops! I reset it to Public, so it should work now. Some of these aren't finished -- they need borders and binding. Suggestions welcome, especially for a border for the yellow/brown Tennessee Waltz one.

The pink scrappy one is a modified Irish Chain. It was a lot of fun to do, and I've been saving scraps to do another one.

My favorite quilts to make are ones where you don't have to remember a lot of measurements. That one has only three sizes to remember.

The one I'm working on now has just two sizes -- 4.5 inch squares and 2.5 inch squares. Heaven!

Thanks again for the welcomes, and the compliments.

I love scrappy quilts -- they don't bust the budget, and you can be sure that the quilt will be one of a kind.

I think most of these patterns are from Marcia Hohn's website. I love the easy instructions, and the photos of actual quilts are helpful too.
