The forum I was on has decided to no longer be...so I got info from one of the members about Block Central - so here I am.
I live in Euless, TX - Married for 9 years to a wonderful man - I have 3 grown children and he has a grown son. We are empty nesters so we do persue our hobbies enthusiastically
I tend to get tops made but quilting comes slowly to me. I have too many UFO's and hope to be inspired one day to get them out and get them done.
Hi Susan, I'm new here too. I'm an empty nester too, and the peace and quiet (and time to quilt) is wonderful. I thought I might be bored after I retired, but it hasn't happened yet.
This is a great board! Friendly people, and so helpful! Welcome!!
Now that our children are grown, my DH and I have a little more time ... we still have two in college that come home for the summers.
Quilting has become my favorite thing the past three years ... I try to stay organized, but I have a few projects in the works right now.
May you make many friends and many quilts here on BC ... any thread or swap that interests you ... just jump right in
Pat

Thank you both for the welcome. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun getting to know people and taking part in the activities. I really like the Happy Blocks. They would make up into a really cool quilt.
Welcome Sue, I'm new to BC too...I'm finding it a world of inspiration. I have been much more productive since I joined, there are so many talented women here and a ton of great ideas!

Susan,
Happy Blocks are a lot of fun. Each month there are two winners of the blocks. The first name drawn picks the theme for the next swap to start and there is also a Mod-Host to ensure that the swap runs smoothly. It is not really a block-for-block swap. You decide if you want to make 2 to 10 blocks according to the theme description and after the drawing, you send half to each winner ... unless you are one of the lucky ones and then half the blocks start arriving in your mailbox! I joined at someone's suggestion a couple of weeks after I joined the forum and had a bit of beginner's luck and won. I have a lovely stack of blocks waiting for me to have a minite to sew them up. I can't wait to make this quilt.
There are two open Happy Blocks swaps at the moment ... June and July. The drawing for the June swap will be a week from Friday so you have about a week to still join. The July swap will be open for another month. The August theme will be announced mid-July.
If you have any questions, just post then in the swap thread or PM the hosts for that month.
We will look forward to having you join us soon,
Pat
