Hello from one of the UK members! I however am really an American living in the UK. So glad you could join us. This is a great group of people and you will have a great time, learn loads and trust me laugh a bit too. We share our triumps and our failures, and of course learn if not from our mistakes, from the knowledge of these wonderful ladies. I've only been quilting for a year...so don't take advice from me! Welcome again! KimUK
Welcome, Holland Gerda, from the farm country of NE Indiana. I have a lot of Dutch ancestors - they settled in New Amsterdam (now New York) back in the 1600's. (Genealogy is my second passion, right behind quilting!)
Funny - you mentioned how quilting is booming - back when I started quilting (nearly 50 years ago), quilting had all but died out in the USA. People would look at me like I'd lost my mind when I told them I quilted (about the only people who still quilted here were little old ladies and the Amish) - then about 20-25 years ago, quilting started making a come-back, and now it is one of the hottest things going!
You'll enjoy BC - lots of really great people here! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your work.
Hello again Gerda, I just found out about the European Quilt Ch'ships. in Waalre, Netherlands. I am assuming it's a European Quilt show. Since you are just beginning your journey, it might seem intimidating, but it will be very interesting if you get a chance to go. The dates are the end of October. Happy Quilting. KimUk
