Well, it's that time of year. Have to get out the cookbooks and make goodies. I make a lot for gifts, usually for the men of the family. Or just to a sisters whole family. My BIL and his family love my peanut brittle, so I try making them that every year.

So lets type out some recipes to share: cookies, candies, brownies, pie! whatever goodies you enjoy making.

Our favorite is chocolate ginger bread cookies. So I'll start with that.

CHOCOLATE GINGERBREAD COOKIES

2 cups chocolate chips
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp cinnamon
3 Tbls butter
3 Tbls sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1/4 cup water

Preheat oven to 350.

Melt 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips. Set aside.

Beat butter and sugar until creamy. Add molasses and melted chocolate. Add dry ingredients, mix, then add water. Mix until smooth. Cover and chill for about 1 hour, until firm.

ROll out and cut with whatever cutters you want. Bake for 5 to 6 minutes, or until edges are set but centers are still slightly soft. Cool and decorate.

You can melt the remaining chocolate chips and drizzle on these, or decorate with frosting and such.

Enjoy! Dorian

Oh, these came from the Nestle Toll House Beloved Cookie book.

OK - here's the recipe I received from DA (Debbie) Bell:

PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE

2 cups Sugar
2/3 cup Milk
1 cup Marshmallow Whip
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 tsp. Vanilla

Cook sugar and milk to soft ball stage. Add marshmallow whip and peanut butter, and vanilla.
Place in pan and cool. (Nuts are optional).

Here are two I had posted in this thread originally.

Candy Cane Brownies
Brownies:
2/3 C. flour 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt 1/3 C. margarine
2 eggs 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
1 C. sugar 1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. nuts

Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Melt margaine and chocolate over hot water (or in microwave). Beat eggs and gradually add sugar. Beat in chocolate and vanilla. Mix in flour. Add nuts. Pour in 8-in sq. pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min. Cool.

Icing:
4 tsp butter
2 T. cream (I use non-fat milk, and it does fine)
2 C. powdered sugar 1 tsp peppermint flavoring

Mix and spread over cooled brownies. Let sit in refrigerator for several minutes.

Crush candy canes and sprinkle over top of white icing.

Melt 1 sq. unsweetened chocolate and 1 tablespoon margarine. Drizzle over top.

Brown Sugar Cookies
2 c. brown sugar 2/3 cup shortening
2 large eggs 1/2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder

Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add 2 well beaten eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift flour with baking powder and add to creamed mixture. Roll thin. (Put a little flour or powdered sugar on dough board
and rolling pin so batter won't stick). Cut cookies with cookie cutters.
Bake at 375 degrees about 8 minutes. Good with icing.
