1 Cup Pickling Salt
Water to fill jar
2 Tablespoon Alum
Vinegar to fill jar
3 Tablespoon Pickling Spice
9 Cup Sugar
1 gal ¼” slice Cucumbers

Day 1-3
Add Sliced ¼” Cucumbers ~ packed into a gallon jar;
Add 1C Salt;
Cover to the top with water;
Let set for 4 days, drain and wash well.

Day 4:
Add 2T alum;
Fill to the top with water;
Let them sit for 24 hours.
Drain and rinse well.

Day 5-15
Cover in vinegar;
Let them sit for 10 days.

Days 16-18
Drain off the vinegar;
Add ;
Add 1T Whole Mixed Pickling Spice
and 3C Sugar on day 16;

Add 1T Whole Mixed Pickling Spice
and 3C Sugar on day 17;

Add 1T Whole Mixed Pickling Spice
and 3C Sugar on day 18.

Wash top of the jar and screw on the lid ~ No need to seal.

Sit in a cool dark place.

I have 2 1/2 gallon cucmubers sitting in vinegar right now and they will be so sweet and crunchy when they are ready to eat at day 18.

anyone have a recipe for those frigerator sweet pickles? they aren't supposed to take long either. maybe I am not saying the name right....

My mom makes those. When she gets home (she is in Ann Arbor right now for doctor's appts. at U-M), I will ask her for her recipe.
