Louise, I would sure address that with the vendor you purchased your from..maybe they'll exchange it. I would insist! I haven't had much time to devote to it but I hope to get some more lessons in this week. To me it is easier that the Eq5 was to learn. In fact, I never did get through all those lessons! Of course, I'm one of the nutz, that tries to do first and follows directions if I can't figure it out!

I just finished Lesson 2 -- for the SECOND time. I spent hours two nights ago, going through lesson 2, making several quilts, and putting them in the Sketchbook. According to the manual and my "preferences", it saves automatically every 3 minutes. But when I exited the program and came back in, everything was gone except the project name, "Lesson 2" ... which was BLANK!
I did it again tonight. after several hours I finished some snazzy quilts and had them in the sketchbook, but when I got out of the program and came back in, they were GONE! The sketchbbok for "Lesson 2" was blank again! My husband, who is a computer guru, says I should click on "Save" or "Save As" and give it a name before I exit the program. But the manual seems to indicate that step is done for you by the program.

Can anyone help me? I am brand-new to EQ6, having opened the present on Christmas morning.

Everything you create has to be saved to the Sketchbook. It does not do it automatically! I learned this the hard way with Eq5!

Everything I did WAS in the Sketchbook. I had 10 or 12 quilts in one of my "Lesson 2" sessions, and as many or more in the second aborted "Lesson 2", and every one of them was in its respective Sketchbook, until I got out of the program and came back in. Then they were gone. My husband said I should click on File/Save or Save As amd give the file another name. I don't want a lot of different files floating around with partailly-completed lessons, so I don't agree with his advice.

When you say, "save it to the Sketchbook", is there something I am missing besides just putting it in the Sketchbook?

BTW, I am now working on my third attempt at Lesson 2. I did a "Save" as my husband suggested, and as he also suggested, made a backup copy of the file under a slightly different name. I am not quite finished with the lesson, but I quit and came back into the program, and my work was still there.

I still think the manual is misleading. What is the purpose of the "Preference" to save automatically every three minutes, if it doesn't do it?

I received EQ6 for Christmas also! However, I have never done any of them before as I have Macintosh computer! So I am running parallels which allows you to run microsoft windows so that I can run EQ6--this is the only reason I have windows!! I have asked the company many times to come out with a mac version but they did not comply! I cannot get the videos to work sigh... only sound... And when I draw a block and move a line it does not go where I put it. My "computer hubby" has solved some problems. Is anyone else using EQ6 on a mac with parallels or even boot camp?

Linda, how are you doing with your Eq6? Are you saving after each design. I haven't been into it in a while. I have to get back to doing the lessons. I'm bad about having a project and figuring it out! Somehow it's easier in Eq6 than it was in Eq5 or it's just I know a little more!
