Is it possible to design an I Spy type quilt in EQ?

Basically, I have hexagons and corresponding 60 degree triangles, sewn to make a rectangular strip, and then rows of the strips. I have sketched it out on graph paper, but I was hoping to do it up in EQ and let EQ figure out the yardage requirements, etc.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this in EQ. Any ideas?

Hi Bright,
I am fairly new to EQ6 myself. I know I saw a place you can choose to make strip quilts. I haven't had time to fiddle with it but I'll look tomorrow and see what I can find. I know it's in there somewhere!

Yes, you can do this in EQ... just choose the hexagon block and design your quilt from there!

When Eq do you have? I remember in my Eq5 one of the lessons took you step by step on creating a hexagon quilt! I'm tied up for this week but if you can't figure it out and can hold on I'll be happy to help.

Mil is visiting; girl I have my hands full! lol
Do you have Yahoo IM with Audio, if so we can get together and work it out!

If I remember correct its also in the 'Layout Library' in EQ5. You load the layout and choose edit quilt and then go from there.

Advice, please - I'm thinking of getting an EQ programme - would you suggest that I go for one of the simpler starter programmes first before launching into EQ5 or 6, seeing that I've never used this type of programme before. Does EQ come with a user friendly manual?

I love EQ5, I don't yet have the upgrade EQ6 (not in budget at the moment). It came with a nice little book with basics and how to's, but I also got all the other books at the time. Really its an easy program, you just have to relax and play, give yourself the freedom to just play and learn.

I love it for that fact that I can scan my fabrics and see how the quilt would acually look. I have desgined and made my own quilt blocks, so yes its great - but maybe others will give you thier opinion. Also I haven't used the other quilt programs so not to sure on the comparison. HTH

Here is my 2 cents worth (so you won't get much!!LOL) I have EQ6, but haven't played with it much. My computer crashed so I was using my daughters laptop.I was going to put it on that, but it says you can only load it 4 times!!! That would have been 2. Now I have a new computer (that would have been 3)!!! I think I have a couple of lessons left to do, but the secret is that you just have to use it!!! Wendy

Another forum offered a tutorial on the hexagon, made by machine. If you want to see it, I will send it to you. Didn't know how you felt about cross-town traffic! Coming from another forum. Someone did a good job.
