Okay ladies have been AWOL for a while just dealing with things in life which have kept me from doing as much quilting as I would like however got a phone call and the only aunt that I have on my dads side asking me to make her a quilt from some unknown reason, maybe this will jump start me again, anywho the ?? is someone had given this great quilt " Wicked Easy " forget whom please forgive me, anywho I want to make it king or as close too to it as possible, the pattern calls for 30 F/Q's thinking this means per fabric so would rather save if I can and just purchase this amount of fabric, many of you have the calculator would you plese help with fabric conversions to see what would be better I know that F/Q are like 1.29 or on a sale day .99 sure the fabric might come out better, okay you get the gest of things all help necessary!!!!

Michelle, glad to see you here again - I hope things are settling down somewhat.
I have not seen that pattern, but if it calls for 30 FQs, that would be 30 different ones - that would give you 7 1/2 yards total. OK, I just Googled and though I have not yet found that pattern, I did come across this AND IT HAS A FREE VERSION!!!!! http://www.byannie.com/free_patterns.html Will keep looking, in the meantime, in between time, someone will come along and help, too. Hi ladies, just sent you an email Geda, anywho this was a pattern that was given some time back not too sure when however the pattern that she has come up with is so totally different from the one that I have however the author is the same person rather her web page is the same, the blocks look different in that there are 6 pieces and like 5 fabrics I think. I figure that this would make a queen/king easier and not too hard just in case I have to have it quilted. Thanks for the help.

Okay so JAcqui, you did get 30 F/Q's per fabric right? I have the other one the Wicked easy quilts, and I think that I would rather do this one however both look like it will be easy and fun!

Michelle -
Please email me offline. The Wicked Easy pattern calls for 30 FQs for a Queen Size quilt. The quilts Jacqui and I made were lap size and called for 12 FQs. 30 FQs would be 7-1/2 yards of fabric, and it would depend on how many different fabrics you wanted to use as to how much fabric you would purchase. However, 30 FQs is not enough for a King Size quilt. My Quilt Design S/W says a King is 110" x 110", so for a King Size - ACCORDING TO MY FIGURES -- you would need 6 more blocks (FQs) and wider borders. That would mean 6 more FQs for the blocks, PLUS additional fabric for the borders. So 36 FQs (MINIMUM) would be 9 yards of fabric for the blocks and pieced borders. You need to think about the borders, though. The Wicked Easy has a pieced rectangle border, and the pieces are cut from the FQ measurements. Since you need wider borders to make the quilt 110", you could decide instead to have solid (one fabric) borders, and in this case you'd need to cut the pieces differently to omit the rectangles for the border and cut strips for the borders. If you use the pieced borders, you would need to make the rectangles for the border LARGER, because the borders need to be at least 4" wider on each side of the quilt. I know - this is TMI. LOL! No worries, I know that this happens a lot of time, however there is someone who steps in and helps to give us what we need, that is the special part of this forum well at least one of them. Thanks as well.
