I love Thanksgiving! My stepson comes up often and my house table is full. We don't have anyone else over, just dh, me and the kids. But that's enough.

What is on your menu for Thanksgiving? Here is mine.

This year we'll do both a turkey and ham. The ham we cured and smoked ourselves.

Mashed tators and gravy

Homemade rolls and cornbread dressing, Jed makes the dressing

Rachael likes to make cranberry sauce with fresh cranberries

Corn, green salad and maybe some zucchini this year

And, of course, pumpkin pie and apple/blackberry pie.

MMMM, I can't wait. LOL

Our menu will be similar to yours. Turkey & stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, about a zillion different salads, pumpkin, lemmon merange(sp?), and some other fruit (peach, blueberry or cherry pies).
We will gather at my brothers this year and my folks aren't going to leave for Texas until the 1st of the year, so we will have them home for both holidays. First time in 13 years!! Yeah!

neat idea to post our menu for Thanksgiving.
I haven't started planning mine yet but it will have to be fit for hubby and his sugar problems.
I love Turkey for Thanksgiving so I will plan around that, & I will fix a small amount of dressing too so that everyone only gets one serving each, this way hubby wont pig out on my dressing, he loves my dressing as do the kids! It will be just hubby and the kids for us at the table. Mom usually fixes at her house too so we will have 2 to attend lunch and supper !

Hi, Oh, I do miss Thanksgiving! This year I'm having my husband's kids over for a Thanksgiving dinner on the Saturday after the US Turkey Day. Being part American Indian, my daughter said Aren't you going to make them wear "traditional" Thanksgiving wear? You know mom, like we always did (NOT!!!) Yes, sounds like a good laugh to me!....Indian headbands with paper feathers and I might even let them wear "war paint". I'll have them cut out cornacopia's, etc. I'm making those little turkeys out of plastic cups, with the sponge running down the string to make it gobble. Yes... the camera will be ready! Then I'll serve them a great meal, Turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, Sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, green bean casseroll, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, probably a salad too.
Of course...the pictures of them looking like indians will be on the www in a skinny minute!!! I'm not making fun of native americans, I'm very proud of my heritage. If you folks have any other ideas, please do not hesitate to tell them to me!
Cheers,
KimUK

Pretty simple here - have to squeeze dinner in between hubby's working - he does the morning and evening milking at the research farm - so we have a tight time-frame to work with. Guess my DD's in-laws are having Thanksgiving in the evening this year, so we'll have dinner. Will be hubby, me, John, Esther, the two little girls, and probably Seth unless he's working - haven't heard yet. And I told John to tell his friend Brandi if she doesn't have anywhere to go, she's welcome too. Not sure about my brother yet - looks like he'll be out of the hospital by then, but don't know if he'll feel up to coming over or not - may have to just fix him a nice tray and take it over to him.

We'll have ham, probably one of those spiral-sliced honey glazed ones, mashed taters and gravy, candied yams, cranberry salad, probably green bean casserole (but may try a new green bean recipe I found last week), pumpkin pie, maybe pecan pie, and probably lemon meringue for John and myself.

Planning on having dinner at the old house (my grandparents' house) where DD had been living. If Brandi is still staying there it might be a bit of a problem, but more than likely she and DD will be in the kitchen helping me.

Sounds great Ladies. I hear you Deb, on making things different this year. I've had to rework my pie recipes too, to accamodate a different diet.

Kim, I would love to see pictures/have directions for the turkey/cup thing! Sounds sooo cute. I usually have the kids make the hand/foot print turkey's.

ladies, the thanksgiving plans all sound wonderful!! this year will be just billy, the girls and me, and my brother i imagine . . . my sister and her family are taking a road trip to chicago . . . not sure what they plan to see or do specifically, and i must admit, i am struggling to understand why she wants to leave home on thanksgiving . . . but i'll be ok, God's comfort is there if i can find it thru my self-pity . . .

in the meantime, we'll have turkey - and let me tell y'all, i don't know how my brother does his turkey, but he is definitely the one cooking it this year!! some kind of marinade, then he cooks it on the grill - ladies, i am telling y'all, it is to DIE for!!!! oh i am drooling just thinking about it . . . we'll also have potato casserole (not sweet, just regular), stove top stuffing (sorry - don't do dressing), green beans (again, not the casserole - YUCK!!!!!!) and most likely a lime congealed salad my mother always made that is a favorite of billy's, also deviled eggs and rolls. there will also be a pumpkin pie and a chess pie.

i am trying my potato casserole in the crockpot today to see how it does before the Big Day - gee, to have to suffer thru such experimentation! Big Grin
