DH starts his vacation today. We had planned to get some things done around here, but that may not happen. The outside portion (Greenfield Village) of the museum (The Henry Ford) where he works is 240 acres. No modern day vehicles are allowed except in emergenices, so to get around he often rides a bicycle.

Yesterday, as he was going through the gates into the village, he had a near miss with a car. He didn't get hit but he slide in some loose gravel and fell off the bike. He has some minor abrasions. To break his fall, he put out his arm, and I think he has wrenched both his shoulder and his wrist, nothing seems to be broken, but he sure is stiff today. I'd like him to go the the ER, but you know how well men respond to that suggestion. So I guess I will be playing nursemaid. Not what I had planned for this week.

Milica, your quilts are lovely. Good to see you posting again.

Have a great day all!

Good Afternoon!

Another sunny day, here ... possible thunderstorms late in the day ... typical late summer day ...

my sewing machine is plugging along ... Snail ... I seem to be staying away from it the last couple of days ... maybe we both need a vacation ...

Milica ... beautiful quilts Clap Clap... so good to see that you are healing and well enough to sew and enroy your summer ...

Dorian ... a dinosaur cake sounds just right for a four year old little man ...

Meg .... not a good way for your DH to start his vacation Frown ... sounds like a trip for exrays would be best, nurse Meg ...

Have a good day, my quilty friends ... SmileSmile

I have people awaiting ... I will return ...

Meg, I'm sorry your DH had an accident! He may not have been hit by that care but a fall like that can certainly give you a serious injury. So take care of that hubby! You can vacation another time!

DH was still somewhat stiff last night, but he said this morning on the way to church that he is regaining the mobility in his wrist. And I haven't heard him complain once about his shoulder so he muct be on the mend. Even played a game of chase the string with the cat while I was getting ready for church.

So far it is cool with a nice breeze, a little overcast, and NO humidity. The crickets are singing up a storm outside my window as I write. I am not well-versed in cricketese, but I think a translation of the words goes something like this:
Come join the fun,
This house is the one
Full of fabric.
Some cotton for you,
Some silk for me
And plenty of wool
To enjoy over tea.

Well I am too late to say good morning so it's good afternoon ladies!

We had the girls this weekend so I was trying to work around them and get some housework done and a bit of sewing. I am surprised that anything got done at all! But I did get 16 half squares finished on the big brown quilt and the other halves started so hopefully they will be finished tonight and ready to put together. If I don't go blind with all these stipes

I have a niece coming in Wednesday for 10 days and I'm hoping I can still get some sewing done while she is here. Any ideas on how to entertain a 17 year old for that long???

Meg, I hope hubby is back to his old self by now so he can enjoy his time off.

Dorian, I sent you a pm with lots of games for you and Carson to test drive. I know you are going to have a lot of fun with him. Wink

It's raining again here but we are enjoying the milder temperatures. It sure is an odd summer for us. We are usually withering away in the heat.

Good Morning ... humid here today ... the house was so stuffy when I got up I had to turn on the AC ... band of storms coming through shortly ... ... going to be one of those days ...

Jenell ... "entertaining" a 17 year old girl means sitting her at the computer and letting her IM all the friends she is missing ... letting her catch her favroite TV shows ... maybe a trip to the nearest mall ...let her get a couple of new magazines ... trying to supervise her interactions with the local boys Wink... showing an interest in her latest passions ... giving her something useful to do if she shows signs of wanting such ... she might even want to earn a few bucks for school if she can ... teach her something new ... does she sew? ... maybe you can get her quilting Big Grin ... she will probably love spending time playing with Skylar ... most 17 year olds are past the difficult years and ready to be treated like the young adult that they are ... Smile

Jacqui ... ... how are you feeling, sweetie? Jay-Jay back to normal? The work completed in your home yet? ...

We are still slowly getting the bath repainted and such ... I did some work in there yesterday ... and hung a new shower curtain ... I think I am going to add some quilty touches like a window valance ...

I did not touch my sewing machine yesterday ... too much other stuff to do ... I did do a bit of weeding and yard work ... my summer flowers are starting to be spent ... time to go find some nice fall mums ... have to decide on the colors this year ... yellows and oranges? or pinks and purples? ... so many to chose from! ... I love fall mums ... Smile Smile
