Good morning all. I'm not sure I'm up to catching up on all that has happened since about Aug 3, so, I'm just going to jump back in and enjoy the company here.
August has been a crazy month for us so far. Started out getting ready to go to a quilt retreat in Springfield, MO on Aug 5. Left home Aug 4 and spent the night with DH's neice and family in St. Robert, MO. Wednesday am, DH and the great-neice drove me to Springfield, about 90 miles. I got checked in to the hotel and proceeded to have a great time with several other online quilt friends for the next two days. Friday evening, DH got a call that his Uncle had passed away. DH and his Uncle are only a couple years apart in age and were raised together by DH's grandparents like brothers. So, Saturday morning, DH picked me up, along with all of my sewing stuff and we headed to Raleigh, NC. Made a short stop at home Saturday night at midnight. Unpacked the car, repacked the car, took a two hour nap, showered, and continued the trip. Arrived in Raleigh about 1:00 pm. Visitation was scheduled for 5:00 but really started at 4:30. We stood in line with his Aunt until 9:00. Got back to the house and collapsed. Funeral was Monday at 1:30 pm. Lots of people came to the house afterwards. We were staying with his Aunt so had to be nice and visit. Did see a lot of DH's old friends from high school that he hadn't seen in over 30 years. Headed for home Tuesday am. It was a good thing that I already had a doctor's appointment for Wed am for my annual physical as we were both sick. DH was all stuffy when he picked me up in Springfield. By the Sunday evening, he was miserable. Tuesday on the way home, I started coming down with it. The doctor worked him in with me. We were both coughing and all that goes along with a bad upper respiratory/sinus infection. She put us on antibiotics and we came home and went to bed for three days. We just existed and only did the bare minimum of cooking so we wouldn't starve. Somewhere during all of that, I got bit by something on the side of my right calf. Since we live out in the country, it could have been several things. Went back to the doctor this past Friday to have it checked out. At first I didn't think it was a bite, but it's not a large red area and very itchy. So, I'm on another antibiotic. Not sure what it was except that the doctor said that it didn't look like the bite of a brown recluse spider. Today, for the first time since Friday, Aug 8, I feel like sewing. I do need to clean up the sewing room first from where I just dumped things when we made the quick stop between Springfield and Raleigh so I can find the machine and cutting table. I did get my Happy Blocks made while I was in Springfield so that's done. Now to finish the new class sample for the quilt shop and get my BPS block for August made. As soon as I catch up a little more, I'll post some pictures. I sure have missed everyone. Barb Mcf |

Good Morning ...
Dee ... your "jammies" day sounds delightful. I was out most of the day yesterday ... and my house is in a shambles. I am re-arranging all my sewing stuff while my machine is gone for repairs. I bought some in expensive plastic draw units to put under my desk units and am trying to figure the best way to organize my srash and scraps. This is all in a corner of my dining room so I have to make it look presentable. And >>> the bathroom painting and redecorating continues ... this is not a major deal ... the floor, tub and fixtures are all fine ... except for the sink which does need to be replaced ... since we are planniing to keep the vanity, we just need to find a sink that will fit and look right and new faucets ... and, of course, my DH gets to do the plumbing. So there is some stuff from the bath that has to have been pulled out to paint behind ... what a mess my house is ... no one best come visit me now!!! Barb {{{{{{hugs}}}}} .. what a time you have been having! ... and there I was hoping you were working on the moving and come back and say you were going to soon be settling into your new home ... I will be praying for you and yours health and well-being ... has the bite mark been itchy or just a large red raised patch that has spread outward in a ring??? Pammy ... do you know Cindy ...(Misisipimenace "Miss Tassels" |

Howdy Girls!
How is everyones Monday going? We had a great time at the aquarium, got to feed and pet the stingrays and sharks. I was really impressed with it (for Oklahoma) I'm sure there are much bigger and better ones in coastal states. My fav was a tunnel you walked thru with sharks swimming all around you! I wish I knew how to post clickable thumbnails for you. Maybe someday. Barb, you sure have been run thru the mill girl! I hope you and hubby are able to settle back to normal soon. Dee, I want a jammie day! It sounds like you had a wonderful day planned there. I'm hoping my Sunday goes a lot like that. Pat... Big hugs for you I knew we should have just sent my old machine to you! This would be a good time to get lots of cutting done though! I can't wait to see your quilt Jacqui! I like blue quilts, they are always so calm and peaceful. Don't it feel good to be sewing again! Football starts Saturday here! Now where is everyone today? I think I hear and echo in here. ![]() Jenell (aka) Miss Cashew O'Nutt http://www.myquiltblog.com/billswife/ http://www.serialquilters.com/afroginthequilt/ |

Now, Jenell, I'm a hockey fan myself, but isn't it better to be able to watch the END of the game, as opposed to the start (if you can't see the whole thing??)
Jacqui, I must have missed your post - going to look for it now! I'm so glad you're sewing again. How's the toe? Will that impede you any? Hope not! Gerda A day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels. Keep looking UP! When it seems there is no way out, there is always a way up! |

Jacqui, is that the same that HolyRowly (Debbie) showed us last year? It's a great pattern - I'll bet it looks smashing in those tones!!
Barb, hugs to you and DH! (((((((((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))) Sure hope the rest of the year is better for you both! Condolences on the loss of hubby's uncle - it's always hard. My hubby lost his fave uncle (only 5 years older than hubby, and yes, they were basically raised together too, since my MIL was often hospitalized or sick). 6 years ago, ironically the same day/year our second granddaughter was born!
