Thanks for all of the hugs. I sure needed them. After I got back from the post office this morning, I spent the rest of the day in the sewing room. I finished a throw size quilt top that I had started at the retreat in Springfield. It's the sample for a new class at the quilt shop that I'll be teaching sometime later, probably the first of October. I'll take a photo and post it in the next day or so. It's based on the 4 Patch Posie quilt pattern with a couple of changes to it. But, we will use the pattern as the starting point.

Everyone around here has been talking about the report on the news today from the Farmer's Almanac about it going to be a colder than normal winter for most of the country. Here the old folks are saying the same thing according to the signs. Our walnut and oak trees have so many nuts on them that the branches are drooping. The squirrels have already started building their nests in the trees for winter and some of the trees have already started changing color. That doesn't usually happen here until late September. I sure hope they are wrong. In any case, I think I'd better take a hint from the squirrel and stock up on fabric and batting as I may need an extra quilt this year. Snowing

We are still waiting for something to happen with the house. The people that want it, have drasticaly reduced the price of their house and are hoping that it sells over Labor Day weekend as that's usually a big time for real estate sales here and then slows down until the holidays. I would really like to be moved before the holidays. Big Grin

It's almost football time here too. The first game will be next Monday in California. On the news, they have the time until kickoff down to the minute. I've never seen such a place as this for football. We are only about 45 miles away from University of Tennessee and on the Friday before the game, every employee of just about every business wears something orange, even the banks are in orange t-shirts. It's just too much. Now ladies basketball is a different situation. For the Lady Vols, I'll wear orange, even if it does make me look like a pumpkin. Cheer

Good Morning all, I've been up a while and yes that is unusal for me! I didn't realize I got up early but when I heard the hubby outside with the weed eater continued sleep was out of the question! Bless his heart he always warns me the night before that he'll be making noise early! It's just to hot to began later in the morning! Humidity in Louisiana is just horrible, it just weighs you down. That's why Betty stays inside! lol

Jacqui, sorry about your foot! Bless your heart but hey the good news is it's not your sewing pedal foot! I've been having to use my left foot on my pedal and I'll tell you I feel like I'm backwards or lop-sided doing that. I have been having my angle in such pain from too much "pedal to the metal" action! lol Won't keep me from sewing though!

Hugs,
Betty

Have you ever bought a house and scheduled the closing and then the seller suddenly says they won't sign anything till they have the check???? OMG!!! Who ever got paid in advance on a house for Pete's sake?? Okay, done venting for the moment. I know house closing is never fun but this one should have been easy!

Jenell,
I've bought and sold enough houses over my lifetime to never count on the sale being final until the last I is dotted and T crossed and the check is in my hand. I've never heard of your situation before. It's a new one on me. All the closings I've had, in 5 states, involving 9 different properties, both parties were signing the paperwork at the same time while a third party, usually an attorney, passed the paperwork back and forth and handled the exchange of the money. In todays economy, I can't imagine what they are thinking. I'm sure it hasn't made your day any happier either. We are still waiting for the person that has the contingency contract on our house to sell theirs. I'm not making an offer on anything until we have a closing date set. I don't want to put anyone else through this waiting.

On a happier note, I got to spend most of the day yesterday in my sewing room. I actually got to sew. I got my BPS block for August made and then made the ones that I've picked out for December so I'll be ready to post them on time. It would be my luck to be moving then so I did them ahead. Now to hope that no one else picks them for the next three months. Big Grin And, I did start work on one of my many UFOs. It was a good day to sew as it rained all day.

Love that rain. Wink I know that in some areas there was flooding and high winds, but here it was just a good soaking rain. We got a little over two inches in 24 hours so that was good. We hadn't had any for over three weeks and everything was really getting dry and crunchy. Today is more of a drizzle instead of real rain. A side benefit is that the temperature is about 15 degrees cooler that it would normally be. That's nice too.

I'm off to spend some more quality time with my sewing machine while I'm on hold on the telephone with Medicare. For some reason, they can't seem to get it straight that I had drug coverage through my DH's group insurance at work and keep asking for more information about why I didn't sign up for Part D drug coverage when I was first eligible for it. Grrrrr Mad Between that and the numerous times I've had to fill out the forms that tell them that I don't have other insurance that should pay first, since DH retired, they have wasted about a ream of paper, not including the employee time wasted. I'll get off my soapbox now and go dial the phone.

Have a good day, Barb Mcf

Good Evening, Quilty Friends ... Smile

Jenell ... that sounds most frustrating ... I have no experiences with such ... it does sound rather strange ... could it have something to do with this individual's concern about the banking problems announced today? Confused

Barb ... good to hear that you are back in your sewing room. I loved the Antique Tile block when I made it ... so easy and so pretty ... and have also been thinking to use this block for a quilt. Smile

I am still waiting to get my sewing machine back and have been re-organizing my sewing area and doing a lot of reading ...

Pat, I was so busy today I didn't even hear about any banking problems. My bank isn't a national chain but it has several branches and I seriously doubt they would double-cross this lady. And we do have an attorney handling the closing. This lady has several rent houses so surely she has been in a closing before! Sheer stupidity if you ask me. Maybe she is just trying to get another months rent out of me.

Barb, good luck with that insurance. I couldn't take another paperwork nightmare right now! Eek But at least you have some pretties to look at while you are on hold so long. Better than that sleepy elevator music!

Jacqui I just can't wait to see your bed topper! Hope your toe is a pretty color now.

Pat, any news yet on your machine? Gosh it must seem like forever to you. I have been missing mine but only because I have company. Sunday I'm going to put it to good use! And then there is Monday too! Woo Hoo! 2 days to play! I love long weekends!!

Hi everyone is this the vent line? As some of you know we are in the process of moving to Idaho. It seems like everything in the world is stopping us right now. I have had so many Dr. appt. because of my jaw injury and the workmans comp and then my DH Dr. visits and my brothers divorce is getting nasty because of his wife. It is so much stress I can't stand it. My brother in law will be moving in this week with his three kids. He will be renting our home from us. As of now we will be moving the first of Oct. Sometime I wonder if this is what we are supose to be doing. My kids call each week asking when we are moving we just keep saying soon. Thank you for being my friends. Laura

Laura, moving and doctors are stress enough and that part is just normal for what you are dealing with. Your brother's divorce is a whole nother subject! Bless you for taking him and his children in! I am sure you are a Godsend for him right now. So I would say yes, you are in the right place at the right time. Hang in there girl, you will make it thru!
