Laura, I understand how you feel. We have a potential buyer for our house that really wants our house, but has to sell theirs first. So, we are sitting here waiting, and waiting, and waiting. One day you will look back on this and smile.
Pat, Glad you are doing the happy dance with your machine. I got to spend all of yesterday with mine and it was sheer joy. As Martha Stewart says, It's a "good thing." Went to the dentist Thursday and found out that I have two cavities. They have popped up since the last x-rays a year ago. Oh well, here goes the dent in the checkbook again. Every time I think we are getting a little ahead, something comes along to use it all up. Friday, my neighbor and I went to the quilt shop. I dropped off the sample for a new class I'll be teaching in Oct. Of course, I had to pick up a couple of pieces of fabric and a new ruler. We had a fun day. There's a neat bbq and seafood place along the river on the way home that we like to stop at for lunch. A nice girls day out. Better go and check on Jack, our Jack Russell Terrier. He's in the sun room alone and I don't want him to get into trouble. Most likely he's already asleep. He likes to go to bed early. I probably should head there too. Hugs, Barb Mcf |

Hello my quilty buddies,
Pat, I'm so glad you got you machine back safe & sound, & that it works great. There is nothing like a hummning machine, & to be able to sew sew sew. Laura, sorry about your house troubles. you will be in my thoughts. Barb, glad you had a good time out with the girls. Love the name of your jack russel. I have wanted a Jack Russel & thought the name Jack was perfect for a jack russel. You will never guess what happened today. Gregg & I went to the g-store & this voice called my name. When I turned around it was an old friend from 20 yrs ago I worked with in a hair salon. She hadn't changed a bit. She was also my maid of honer in Gregg & my little wedding ceremony. It's funny, you loose a phone number, or e-mail, but when by chance you meet again it's like the years hadn't even passed. You pick up like it was yesterday. We exchanged numbers & will meet for lunch. The power of women friendship is amazing don't you think? Must be why I love you all. Rebecca P |

Good Monring,
Barb and Rebecca ... sounds like you gals had siome quality "girl time" recently .. Rebecca ... I have one friend sthat I knew a little bit in HS and then she became my best friend in college ... I rarely see her now, but when I do it is like we saw each other yesterday ... we just pick up where we left off ... Barb .. right now my best quilting buddy is my DD ... we do not get to quilt shop hopping (which inevitably involves lunch) very often, but we have a great time when we do ... I will miss her when she goes back to the dorm ... but we have a quilt shop stop planned on Tuesday, the last day before her new classes start ... Next Saturday I am doing an online "Mystery Quilt Weekend" at the the Quilt and Needle fingers crossed here ...They are saying that we are supposed to get the rain at least from Hanna next weekend ... if so it will be a good day to stay in and sew ... Hello all, hope everyone is safe after Gustav made his way through the gulf coast area. Now the ones in Florida have to watch out for Hannah. Still not sure where it's going.
Rebecca, the neighbor that I went to the quilt shop with also has a Jack Russell. It's the same black and white as mine, just 5 years younger and longer legs. He is also named Jack. Makes it interesting when we are both outside with the dogs, both calling for Jack. I think she and I are going to get together on Friday to make purses. While some were having rain and wind, we are back to our hot and dry weather. We did get a good bit of rain from Fay, but none since then, and it's been hot. 90 to 92 degrees. I know that isn't hot for some, but for here in the mountains of E. TN, it's hot. I'm very thankful for the large oak tree right in front of my house as it shades us from the evening sun. Sure helps. Labor Day found me working around the house doing 5 loads of laundry and some housecleaning. Tuesday I did get to spend it sewing. I got all of a mystery finished except for the borders. Still have to pick out that fabric as I decided to wait since the blocks are a controlled scrappy color. May have to go to the quilt shop to do that. And, got a table runner put together. Need to get a backing and get it quilted still. DH was home all day today and was in the kitchen cooking. He's a very good cook and most of the time I love what he cooks. Today was different. He loves to take a basic recipe and "improve" on it. He fixed a large pot of pinto beans, cornbread, and chocolate cake, my favorites. But, none of them are the basic recipes and as a result, while they are edible and good to some people, to me they just don't taste right. But, I'll smile and say "Thank You" for cooking them. I used to be honest when he asked me if it was good but soon learned that it hurt his feelings if I told him the truth. Oh well, he's still a keeper. Prayers for everyone in the pathway of bad weather. Stay safe. Barb Mcf |

hello All My Quilts buds.....alot colder and dreary just over night here-a great day to stay in and hopefully start some quilting for my new grand baby that will be here before I am done. I finally started my scrap booking and boy am I hooked....but I think my sewing machine is jealous so I need to spend sometime with it soon.
Barb I bbq'ed w/ friends the day before labor day but worked labor day and I was pleasantly surprised we were very busy-great tips, but then spent the rest of the day cleaning and doing laundry. My youngest did surprise me w/ a unexpected visit [ from las vegas] so I got to spoil my youngest GD-she is now 8 mths and really getting a personality-she said Nana and my heart melted, of course I brain wash the poor thing everytime I see her..."say Nana" at least 20 times while she is here lol. Pat how is the machine now that its back...working like brand new I hope. Laura any word on the house? I have been through that whole process a couple times-my nerves can't take it.But remember everything happens for a reason.I know doesn't help much but hang in something when happen. Rebecca I cherish my friends and hate it when we lose touch for whatever reason so glad you two are getting a chance to renew that friendship. Ok ladies I vowed to not spend so much time on the computer so I can get other things done so heres to hoping everyone has a safe and quilty sorta of day. dee in cedar city ut. we could learn something from a box of crayolas.....all the colors get along. |

It seems we have two Sept. 9th "good morning threads. hum are we suppose to be on the other one?
Well I'm here right now, so howdy all. I didn't get any sewing done today because my little house was in tire need of cleaning. I simply have put it off for too long because each morning I say to myself, "should I swiffer the floors or sew?" Well I don't have to tell you that being at my sewing machine always wins out.lol Dee, I have friends who do scrap booking. That is an art in itself. Can be as costly as quilting.lol You know, with the fancy paper, the scissors for fancy cutting, stickers. Wow, there is so much out there to make a persons photo albums a work of art. Hi Barb, hope you are well, A hey to Pat too. Meg, if you see this, I'm sorry to hear of your tooth problems. I hate the dentist & tooth problems. Talk to you later. Rebecca P |

Rebecca....yes I have been so hooked by the scrapbboking bug I think I need a meeting...nah love it as much as I love my quilting-I find myself applying my sewing skills to my page lay outs...infact I have a friend who was totaly lost starting her scrapbooking once I pointed out to her you start your layout just like you plan your quilts she is off and running.
Barb sorry to hear about the tooth problems-love the day I got top dentures-I am one of those my parents spent $1000.00's of dollars on my teeth and I continue to try & save as many as I could over the yrs but because of all the antiboitics I have taken over the yrs the teeth just couldn't take it-solved that problem once I found a dentist that would actually do what I asked-pull them...alllll! dentist just don't like to do that. Well we were supposed to get a good storm, actd like it all day but nothing happened. Still the over cast weather inspired me to work on several projects, hope everyone had a quilty sorta day. dee in cedar city ut. we could learn something from a box of crayolas.....all the colors get along. |

Yes, Rebecca, before Gustav hit, Betty posted that she would like someone to start a new September thread so she could do some cleaning on the forum.
Meg Proud Coastie Mom http://www.myquiltblog.com/ohiorose53/ http://www.serialquilters.com/ohiorose53 I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, you're right to say it. Voltaire |
