Jacqui-
You need to take care of that cold. The quickest remedy I know is lots of hot tea, chicken soup, and wrap yourself up in bolts of quilt fabric to stay warm! Dee and Trina- I have walked in those shoes before. It is not an easy situation. What worked for me was to hand the problem over to the Lord and trust that when He closes one door He opens another. I truly believe that sometimes we cannot see His purpose, sometimes we never learn the reason, but it is always for the best. Pat- Glad you enjoyed the show. Hmmmmmm, is someone purposely being very close-mouthed about what all she bought after the first day?!? LOL We are having a beautiful summer day today. The way I remember them from some-*^%*%# years ago! LOL No humidity, cool, sunny! The crickets and grasshoppers are serenading me from the garden. I have gotten quite a bit done this morning. Finished all the rows for the new cover for the dog's bed. In the process of stitching the rows together now. I want to 'quilt' it with just a piece of muslin behind it for added stability. Then it will be ready to replace the existing worn cover. Have a great day all! Meg......you have written exactly how I feel...yes as i said before I am a tad nervous about quitting the main money source but the feeling of inner peace far out weights the fear so that tells me I am doing the right thing. So glad you are having a beautiful day-we are having the same, suppose to get warmer later but after living in Nv for a yr this heat ain't nothin..lol The waitress job doesn't start until 12 each day this week so I am able to spend sometime in my craft rm in the mornings..I am lovin it!!! Meg thats one lucky dog, I am sure it will be appreciated. Jacqui-I am going to take the same advise Meg is dishin out, as I have a nasty chest cold, feel alot better today but the coughing is exhausting...so wishin for a hot toddy..lol take care and everyone have a great day we could learn something from a box of crayolas.....all the colors get along. |

Dee-
If my son were not in the Pacific Northwest I would send him over to make you a hot toddy. He has the magic touch. he says it is the leprachaun in him. Do you remember the first Gulf War? My husband and I didn't know a thing about it for about four days, we were so sick in bed having nursed our oldest back to health and then catching whatever he had brought home from school the previous week. DS1 was about 11 at the time, he had seen me make them for DH, who nearly always has bronchitis at least once every winter. He went in and made each of us one. They were so strong we were both asleep in about twenty minutes, but the next day I was back on my feet. I am ready to have tantrum! I figured exactly how much I needed plus a little extra to make the sashing and the border for the cover for the dog bed. I even told the girl to be carfeul that it was cut straight.
After I washed out the sizing, I discovered it had apparently been skewed when put on the bolt. I used every trick in the book to straigthen the grain. Even with that I still lost 1 1/2" off each end where it was uneven which means I cannot cut the last two strips. If I hadn't straigthened it, I would have been short three strips. Now I have to go buy 1/4 yard in order to get the 6" I need. If any of you can hear a primordial scream that will be me! I wanted to be done with this today! Okay lets see if I can cover everyone here.
First of all, Miss Jacqui! You better NOT cancel that appointment! They will have just what you need to nip this thing early before it gets harder on you! You and Dee need to listen to all the good advice here. Gerda, you too sweetie, I must have missed your post somewhere. Trina, I have quit a higher paying job because of the stress and never regretted a minute of it. And I gave up a volunteer position too for the same reasons. I do want to volunteer again somewhere, somehow, but it is going to have to be on my terms. Mine was a mandatory 8 hours per month which sounds easy. But it really got to be a burden to make my hours every time. So I had to give it up. I do miss it sometimes though. Hang in there Meg. Or just add some, what are those things called, little sashing blocks. I will think of it after I click the post now button. I haven't got the new machine yet, they said by the 16th and just in time too! My hubby hijacked my machine on Sunday and you will have to check my blog to see the pics. I think we are going to need a bigger kitchen table. I did finish my happy blocks and 3 more squares for Mom's quilt. It really was a nice weekend but I feel like I should have got more done. Okay, did I miss anyone? ![]() Jenell (aka) Miss Cashew O'Nutt http://www.myquiltblog.com/billswife/ http://www.serialquilters.com/afroginthequilt/ |

You all had me in tears from the amount of support that I am receiving here. I had forgotten that the Lord does open another door when He closes one.
Thank you. Trina |

Be prepared to be amazed, ladies; I am!
DS2 stood in the middle of my studio, "Are you really going to tell me you don't have any fabric you can use?" Then he walked into the guest room and looked at the fabric piled two feet high on the bed, "Are you REALLY going to tell me you don't have any fabric you can use?!?" He suggested doing something that would contrast; like sashing and cornerstones. The fact that he knew they are called cornerstones stopped me dead in my tracks! Anyway, we dug through the stash and found a wood grain; black on the same shade of blue. Of, course, doing it this way took longer because there were seams to match, but it is done. Now I just have to quilt it to a piece of muslin for stability and stitch to the back of the cover. Was thinking about Trina and Dee while doing this; even in quilting when He closes one door He opens another.
