I am showing you a pic of a baby swaddler blanket. it is made in an oval shape, and has a pocket on the inside also, to put the baby in, then wrap and fastens with velcro. I made mine out of flannel, but was wondering if it would be x-tra cute made like a quilt?? it is made in an oval shape, which could be tricky, but might be cute. whaddya all think??

Oh my! What a cute baby!!! Big Grin My first question would be why couldn't it be quilted? It is a great little item and I know it's handy for the new moms. I say go for it.

would you piece the squares first, and then cut the oval shape out?? I did an appliqued pineapple that way once, and it made it very easy.

Oh I think that would work just fine. Just lay it out so your not cutting off any significant parts of the design. Ooohh a water color effect would work perfectly! And I have used piping for binding on small projects. That might look nice and be more durable too. Be sure to show it when you finish, what a great idea!

Yes, I would channel quilt of meander quilt the "fabric" sandwich and them cut out and bind the edge. That way your fabrics won't shift on you.

Also, you may not want to quilt the pocket piece because that would be awfully think when all the quilted sections are folded over.

Can you send a link to the pattern? or show us how the pocket piece you describe looks?
