Thanks for putting this link here! We do need to get as many signatures as possible to get them to bring the fabric dept. back. We also can call 1-800-Walmart. Maybe if they get enough phone calls they will bring it back into the stores! Our Walmart is getting to keep our Fabric dept, but so many are at a loss as to where they will have to drive now to get any fabric, notions. Let's make them re think this decision!!
Oh me tooooo! I sometimes work late hrs and often have to/want to shop when the mood stucks..lol since i live in a very small town I would be in withdrawals w/o my walmart. thanks dee p.s. Our Wal-Mart got to keep their fabric dept but it's a lot smaller than it was. The lady there said that it would probably only be there another 2 or 3 years and then they all would be gone. I'm in a rural area and if it weren't for W-M, people here would have to go over 40 miles to get thread or zipper on whatever sewing related. I do hope they change their mind.
I know this is an old thread, but just thought I'd say, the lady that works in the fabric department at our wal mart told me last night that about this time next year no wal marts will have fabric sections because they don't make enough money.

Ya Chelsey I think I also heard that somewhere too and I am gonna hate that, here in cedar city ut I depend on wal-mart craft section. Oh yes our Ace Hardware and 2 quilt shops carries fabric but it all starts at 8.99 a yd, yes nicer fabric but I can't afford those prices. Thanks for posting.. dee in cedar city ut.

I was in my WM yesterday and talked to an associate and she said they had been told the whole craft dept. would close but WM changed their mind and it is still going strong. They have added some Martha Stewart stuff in the scrapbooking and wedding depts. I thought that was a good sign too. They still carry all of the Pellon products and quite an assortment of calicos. Their clearance tables aren't great though.
Ladies I read this link several months ago and me too was sadden about our walmart getting rid of there fabric section. I'am happy to say that the fabric is still there and they are receiving more each week. Now I dont know if the petition work for my area but they dont know anything about if they are going to get rid of the fabric... And its a good thing too Julia

Thanks we do need to keep after Wal-mart about our fabrics and notions. My local and nearby stores still have the fabrics although the one closest to me was to remove theres but it's been over a year and it's still there.
I signed the petition and did it for my sister-in-law who lives in Baytown, Texas and they removed their fabric almost immediately. They had this hugh sidewalk sale and it was gone in a snap.
