I was wondering if anyone has ever had an ulcer, and what it feels like. I have been having pain in my upper abdomen for a few weeks now. I at first thought I had bruised a couple ribs, but it seems to be even worse after I eat. Lots of nausea/indegestion and I get full really easy.
I mght have to make an appointment to get checked out, but I'll have to live with for a couple more weeks. It usually takes a couple weeks to get in to see my doctor.

Anyone know anything about this?

billy had ulcers several years ago - thought he was having a heart attack! in fact the ER ran several EKGs on him before finally deciding it wasn't his heart. about that time, our regular doctor made it to the ER and, knowing billy's history, scheduled the scope the next morning, which of course confirmed his suspicions of ulcers. a couple of months of prilosec (brand new on the market then) and he was as good as new that is as long as he watches what he eats. his ulcers were not stress-related tho - something like "h pilori" bacteria was the cause of the ulcers??? does that make any sense to you, kim? anyway, hope this helps some.

I had a atress-related ulcer when I was four, but don't remember what it felt like. How can a four yearold have an elcer, you ask? My dad did consulting in the aerospace industry, which was brand new then. He did a lot of flying and back then they didn't know about wind sheers and other weather phenomena. Many, many accidents. I worried every time he climbed on a plane.

Yes, there is a kind of bacteria that can cause ulcers. My SIL had them. I do not know the cause or the treatment. She was not comfortable speaking of it.

Sounds to me like ...... a visit to the doctor would be in order. Never put off pain! we never know what is lurking. A daughter had pain that she put off and learned she had accute pancreatitis. She was Very sick and spent 10 days in the hospital..When in pain, see a doctor!

I am either making an appointment or driving over first thing in the morning to make the doctor see me. Maybe, they could work me in. I'm not really sure what's going on in there. I have cut out soda and spicy food for the moment. I don't want to irritate it any worse. I don't want to seem selfish, but could you ladies please pray that this is something simple and easy to heal? I would greatly appreciate it!!

You silly girl!?!?! How could we think a request like that would be selfish? We certainly don't want you to suffer or be in pain needlessly! Asking that an answer and a treatment be found quickly, and that you are returned to your former good health. (((((HUGS)))))

Kim

I share Meg's sentiments here - if in doubt also seek help from your Doctor. Prayers that it is something simple.
