Okay, I do have one small question? Am I allowed to have low fat dairy(yogurt, skim milk, frozen yogurt)? I've heard conflicting reports. Cindy, you might know about this one? Anyone know first hand? I'm not sure I can go without a little milk or yogurt here and there. (((HUGS))) Kim

oh kim, i am sorry, but i honestly don't remember about the dairy products! billy was never a big "milk & ice cream" person so i am sure that is why i don't remember it! what i do remember is that he had to do without his beloved salsa and all other things mexican & spicy! he could not even have ketchup! bless his heart, i would bake chicken breasts and he would smother them in mayo since BBQ sauce was a no-no as well. billy has never been used to plain and bland!! did the dr. office not give you some type of list with "can v. cannot" eat? if not, call them and see if they can give you one or ask specifically about the dairy products. and yes, those 5 weeks will be gone soon - i bet the first week will be the hardest . . .

Cindy, Your right the first week has been the hardest, but I'm surviving. I actually haven't too many caffiene withdrawal headaches, just one on the second day(Thursday). The diet isn't too hard to follow. I just eat much smaller portions, and I make sure not eat anything that I have already tried and not agreed with. So far, peanut butter has been the worst. I love it , but it's not worth the pain. On the lighter side, I've lost 2 pounds!! Thanks to everyone for the support!! (((HUGS))) Kim

Hmm, I would think dairy products, especially soft ones like milk, yogurt and ice cream, would be soothing to your ulcer.
Have you checked with the Drs office on that yet? I'm sure a nurse would be happy to tell you.

Dorian and Meg, I was able to check and get a nice little do's and don'ts list. Low fat dairy is okay. I have been having a cup of Activia or the new Yoplait healthy yogurt everyday. I'm starting to think that I will be able to stick to this diet for 5 weeks. Then, add little things in moderation afterwards. It really is much healthier for me. Yesterday, I treated myself to a grilled chicken sandwich, and it was great! I have much less heartburn than before already! Only a little here and there after eating something I didn't learn to avoid yet. I still have the pain in my stomach, but, as long as I do what I'm supposed to (eat right and avoid stress), it doesn't get severe. I can handle a little pain. Thanks again to all of you ladies for you concerns and prayers! I am on the road to recovery!!! (((HUGS))) Kim
