I am 52 too & made my first quilt about 18 yrs. ago. I had a book with a pattern but didn't know anything about rotary cutters or qrt. in seams. I cut the quilt pieces by hand & am shocked it fit together. Then I took classes, found repoduction fabric & haven't stopped. I has become my passion. There are new patterns to make, & new fabric lines to fall in love with. Smile

I'm 57 and started my first quilt about 12 years ago. Made it all by hand, but I'm still hand quilting it. Red Face It was supposed to be a quilt for my daughter to take to college. I have many UFO's and fabric everywhere, but I love this hobby and wished I had started earlier, too.

Hi.
Just found this one. I made my first quilt when I was 21 years old. I did it all by hand. I needed something to do while living in the barracks. Ended up being my husband's first Christmas gift. Still have the quilt but it is now falling apart.
Then started seriously quilting back in 1992/3? Been quilting ever since. I am still working on a quilt I started back then. I call it my moving quilt. Seems every time I bring the quilt out to work on it, we move. It is about time to bring the quilt out again.I have many other WIPs too. I am 49 years old.

I am 53 years old. I made my first dress when I was 13 and have been sewing ever since. However, I have only been quilting for about 5 years now. I made most of my clothes growing up but haven't made any clothing in many years. I still sew things for the house like curtains. But most all of my sewing energy goes into quilting. I also spent a number of years doing counted cross stitch but only occassionally do that now. My hand stitching energy goes into the quilts as I hand quilt all I make.

I'm 48 years old. I started sewing as a child with my mother teaching me on my grandmother's old singer treadle sewing machine. I loved that machine but Mum passed it on to someone who needed it more than we did. I've always loved hand sewing. I was lucky as a child as sewing was taught at primary school from when we were very young. That isn't the case these days. I made my dolls clothes, tried to mend my teddy bears and sewed my first applicate cushion cover when I was 12... it was a fairy mushroom house on an orange background!

I first took patchwork classes 20+ years ago before the craft really took off here. Unfortunately my teacher was very negative and it put me off for years. But I'm back if somewhat inexperienced despite how long it is since starting my first patchwork quilt. No I never did finish it!! The first of my UFOs!! LOL
