Good Morning ... Hanna has come to visit ... I hear she is not going to stay too long ... but we have flash flood warnings posted until tomorrow morning ... Meg ... Congratulations to your son! It is wonderful that he has completed his HS education ... does he have any plans to take on college? The community colleges here are really great about getting GED graduates started on a higher education and many go on to finish a four year degree or more ... I am so happy you like the fabric ... I thought it was rather pretty ... good that it shall find a home in your quilt. ... It is so nice to receive surprise fabric packages in the mail ... have fun Nanawing ... good to hear that you are that much closer to being with your family in Idaho ... have a safe journey there and may your new home be everything you have dreamed of ... Oh my computer is acting strange today. After trying to reply to three other posts, I just realize that I can't get the reply to open because pop-ups are being blocked. This can only mean one thing- that DH was trying to do one thing this morning on the computer and did something else completely. Probably something with Adobe Photoshop- that program gives him fits! You've heard of inability of men to ask for directions? Well, girls, let me tell you, it doesn't only happen when you're driving! LOL Laura, your post reminded me of a re-occurring dream/nightmare my mother used to have when I was a girl. Basically, it was the two of us alone in an empty house with brooms, mops and buckets, and Windex. The houses changed, but we were the constant in them all! LOL We moved 9 times before I graduated from high school! You have my complete sympathy on this. There is an upside, though. That is getting to unpack everything and set up your new house. This may sound completely wierd, but I think it is easier to set up a new house than to re-organize a household you are familar with. You are looking at the new space with fresh eyes and are comepletely unfettered with how you used the space in the past. It is actually rather invigorating! Pat, and all you ladies on the East coast and the Gulf states, please be careful! And please check in as soon as you are able. It is not only the hurricane itself but the ensuing floods and possible tornadoes. We haven't had a chance to celebrate DS2's accomplishment yet. He went rollerblading last night with the two other young men who took the test at the same time, and all three passed. I want to take him to Greenfield Village this weekend. They have two big auto festivals each year. One is the Motor Muster, which are classic automoblies from the 30'3 to the 70's. The one this weekend is the Old Car Festival, from the early 1900's to 1929. People come from all the U.S. to exhibit their vehicles. There are literally hundreds of vehicles on display, and also motorcycles and bicycles from that era. DS2 is indicating that he really wants to join the Coast Guard. And I think he has talked at least one of his friends, who previously wanted to go into the Air Force, into joining him. I am not sure how likely it is that they could get posted together, but at least they could do boot camp together. Jenell, I don't think I congratulated you on closing on the house. I am sure you are Joey's favorite aunt right about now! No doubt you and Bill are relieved to be done with it! Well, ladies, I missed the U-M game last weekend on TV, so I am going to scurry off here and get some housework done (pardon my French! not supposed to use bad language!) so I can sit down and enjoy the game later on. Take care all, have a wonderful day! Go Blue!

Meg, Congratulations to your son on getting his GED. My son did the same thing and a few years later went to college for a couple of semesters, just to prove to everyone that he could do it. I know that passing it with flying colors gave him a boost of confidence and he will do well. Hanna is here. We had heavy rain from Fay and nothing from Gustav. Today is gray, cloudy, cooler than normal, and a cross between a mist and drizzle. Temp is low enough that the a/c isn't cycling on so it feels very damp and clammy inside the house. I run my a/c more for humidity control than I do for cooling around here. Oh well, fall will be here soon. Hope everyone in Hanna's path is safe. I've spent most of the past couple of days sewing. I got a previous mystery finished, except for the borders, and have started on the graduation quilt for one of the DGD's. I wasn't expecting to need it until next May, but she finished a year early so I'm late with it. She wants Sun Bonnet Sue so I'm making it using Eleanor Burns pattern using 30's prints. It's not a hard quilt to make but it's going to take a good bit more time that a Turning Twenty or Yellow Brick Road one. DH is going to be gone all day today so I'm off to spend the rest of the day in the sewing room. Hugs, Barb Mcf

My goodness, I get behind fast around here! But I did get to sew all day Sunday! We had Shirrie's birthday party Saturday and I was trying to sneak and watch the game at the same time. Happy Birthday to you Pat! You and Peeps can share a party! We are having some pretty cool temps today. Feels just like fall, but I'm not ready for summer to be over so soon! Laura, I hope your move goes smoothe and as planned. I can't imagine us trying to move at this point in our life! 20 years in the pawn business and we have collected lots of stuff!!! Meg, so sorry about the tooth! I knew you weren't yourself. But kudos on son's GED! It is a good feeling to pass that test. Hope you got some good sewing in Barb! I have my big brown all in squares finally. I read the directions again after I had most of the triangles done and realized I could have sewed it all on a square paper. Oh brother, that would have saved me a whole lot of time! But these lessons learned the hard way are never forgotten!!! So now to put it in rows and hopefully get the back pieced soon so I can send it off to the quilter and forget about it for a while. My quilter didn't have any holiday motifs for quilting my tree skirt so I ordered one. Well 2 weeks later it didn't show up so they sent me another one and it arrived Saturday. So guess what show up in the mail on Monday? Go figure. Ain't it great to have Betty back? I sure was worried. Betty, my door is open if you need to come inland a bit more next time! And where is Jacqui Dear? Hmmmm? Jenell (aka) Miss Cashew O'Nutt The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers. Man! I think our temperature dropped like 20 or 30 degrees over night! We shut most of the windows last night. I guess autumn is on its way. Soon it will be time to buy cider and make doughnuts. Wonder if I can persuade DH to make oatmeal for breakfast this morning; his is so much better than mine. Besides, I need something soft to eat this morning. Yesterday, they numbed my mouth with some kind of gel and I was fine diring the procedure, but as soon as it wore off- well, it felt like I had been hit in the face with a shovel! The pain from emanating from that one little tooth made my whole face tender. I know I am rambling on about this, but this is so out of my realm of experience. I have never had an abcessed tooth before or a root canal, never even had to wear braces. I took a Tylenol 800 and went to bed. Well, time to stop feeling sorry for myself and get something useful done. Have a great day all.

Oh, Meg, that sounds AWFUL... Hope your mouth is healed soon. Our temps up here really dropped last night also...Grayling and some of the areas nearby had frost, I heard they went down to the high 20s! We were close at about 38 degrees... BUT, supposed to warm up today and more tomorrow. Im off to a quilt guild meeting today/tonight. We have Becky Goldsmith coming in... from Piece O Cake designs... Her quilts are very colorful and fun so it should be interesting. The guild is in Petoskey so I might have to go shopping out there also... I need white for that snow quilt. Well, have a nice day everyone! Time for coffee Deb
