Good Morning Everyone!! Our weather here has finally cleared up... We've had rain for days and today the sun is out and everything looks so pretty. Jenell-So happy to hear your son is coming home safe! Meg-Sorry about your NEW pain... I've had my share of disputes with the insurance companies... I had HAP for a bit... My daughter got cut really bad and had bleeding that couldnt be stopped, she needed quite a few stitches. We wanted to take her to the emgergency room in a city that was away from home and they told us we couldnt.... I'm screaming into the phone.. "ARE YOU PEOPLE NUTS?!" I get loud when it's my kids. Anyways, it was a big misunderstanding on their part but I hung up on them and said Im taking her, I WILL PAY... Of course they ended up paying the bill but who has time to argue when your kid is crying and bleeding and scared.... I switched companies after that...back to BC/BS. Good luck with the fight. I wish I lived closer to all of you... sounds like a fun trip. I like to go to the Shipshewana area ...some great shops there. I only get down to the amish area about twice a year. The last time I was there I bought about 12 yards of mixed solids. I found so many pretty colors. It's hard to find nice ones up here.

DID SOMEONE SAY ICE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!! Count me in!! I've never been to a quilt shop in Clare. In fact, I dont think I've ever shopped in Clare. I stayed at a hotel on the expressway by Clare... DD1 was going to Central for a day and I went with her. My DD2 is making a quilt that is on Amy Butler's site and we need solids. It's the "Thea's Puzzle Quilt". http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/products/free_patterns.phpWe ordered some online but need a few more. This is a free pattern and very easy so she's giving it a try. She usually sticks to squares and evenly cut pieces. This will be new for her. She's the daughter going to school for interior design.... loves modern. So... if you all go shop hopping, let me know!

Good Morning ALL! It's a B E A U T I F U L day here... sunny and comfortable. Al and I went out to breakfast to our usual place in town... Always lots of locals to chat with. One of the locals is a person that was a quilter but doesnt now. She was cleaning out her quilting magazines and gave them ALL to me! TWO boxes full.... So guess what I will be doing all afternoon! This month has been like Christmas... in fact, I think, BETTER than Christmas! No baking, cooking or wrapping... just fun gifts. I think I've gone to quilters heaven Today is also the day I start the basting of grandmas quilt. The applique is DONE. I have to wait till she goes to bed this evening to lay it all out in the kitchen and start pinning. QUESTION: Do most of you pin baste or thread baste? I usually pin baste but at my guild meeting we had Becky Goldsmith there. She thread bastes and says it's a much better way ...no sore fingers, no pins in the way when quilting. I'm thinking of giving it a shot... ANY THOUGHTS? Deb

Meg, do you hand quilt? or by machine? I was told to use pins if machine quilting, since the thread could get caught. I have seriously considered trying thread basting for my next quilting project, just to try it. A grapefruit spoon works well for closing/opening pins, so the fingies don't get too sore. gerda
A day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels. Keep looking UP! When it seems there is no way out, there is always a way up!
