Delia-WOW! what a great gift Big Grin That's something that's on my list but first I need a computer. He deserves extra kisses!

My DH and I have a similar deal... he buys cars and car parts ... I dont complain, at least not TOO often... and I buy fabric (LOTS of fabric).

HMMM... cars and car parts? our email username is "CARBUFFS"! We have pretty much the same arrangement at our house.

We currently have a 32 ford roadster, ( a bright yellow, big block 4 speed hot rod of course) a 49 ford that is pretty much stock, white with red and white interior, and a 68 camaro is our latest addition to the specialty cars. By the time you add our jeep, Mike's new Chevy silverado truck and my HHR, our driveway and garage are packed. We need acreage to store them all.

I just saw your reply and you're right... Al and Mike are VERY alike! Al is a big FORD guy but he owns a corvette as his toy. He built a HUGE barn to keep his toys in but so far it's mostly filled with my stuff... we wont even start into that topic! Half is for cars and half is for basketball... then there's the loft for his woodworking (I have it filled with what he calls junk). He would love to fill the one side with more cars but I think one at a time is plenty. He has vintage signs and car parts decorating his walls in the garage side. It looks pretty cool. A neighbor of ours asked us to sell his car for him on Ebay.. he's not to good at using computers... it was a 35 ford tudor ...original.. "barn fresh". What a beauty. He gave me some old car parts from his barn to thank me... an old horn from another car of about the same age... a FORD emblem off the front of some car and some old hubcaps with a V8 insigna on it. More stuff to hang in the garage....

I think their is a trend going on here, I have my fabric and crafts I like to do and Lyle has his cars and Native American flutes he makes. That is why we had to have a shop for the car and the flute making stuff. I get a room in the house for sewing. It all seems to work out we have been married 37 years now. And I want more fabric.

Cars and quilts....who'd have thunk it? LOL any other car guy husbands out there? We just spent a weekend at the coast for a car show and Beach Boys concert. Great cars, great music, wonderful weather until Sunday, and great friends. what more could we ask for?

Sounds wonderful Denise...DH and I went to the Woodward Cruise in Detroit this summer. LOADS of cars. I took about 200 pictures for him of cars and his friends. I did get to pop into some quilt and fabric stores when we went down there so that was fun. He loves to look at the vintage cars and the vettes.. I like the pretty ones, old belairs painted pink or red and white. OR the 50's era corvettes that are two colors... nice!
Have you ever thought about making him a car quilt? I saw a magazine article about someone that made their husband a Porche quilt and had it signed by Porche's designer. Al saw it and said he would like that one! I GUESS... you should have seen the applique on it. Beautiful.

My DH is a woodworker so he too understands my quilting. He loves wood the way I love fabric. The advantage of the woodworking husband is that he made me my sewing table, framed my design wall, and made a perfectly fitting top for a chest that holds my cutting mat. Last year for Christmas he made me a beautiful quilt rack! Aren't we a lucky bunch!

Deb, as a matter of fact, I am finishing up a quilt right now, that I started for my DH. turns out, after it was pieced, he decided he wasn't crazy about the colors, so he wants to give it to a friend's grandson. I'll post pics when I get it quilted. I pin basted it a couple of weeks ago. One step closer..... Smile
