I just got the best MD gift for my mom ever.

I found an antique Singer. Its a 1941 model. It even has the original attachment box with it. The original cabinet some old wooden spools of thread.
The cord s are frayed, I've already ordered the replacements for it. It even has a tube of "machine lubricant" in it. it is so old the cap on the tube is metal.
It looks like it may have been stored in a barn or attic for mayn years, but when you turn the wheel it moves real smooth. and best of all, it was only 25.00 at the thrift store.
She collects old machines and I know she'll love it.
Yeah Yippee! Banana Cheer Apple Confetti

Hi Kat,

Your Mother's Day gift sounds wonderful. Well done! I have been on the lookout for an old Singer treadle sewing machine for my Mum.

When I was a child my mother taught my sister and I to sew on my Grandmother's old machine. When Mum bought herself a new Janome her electrical Singer (60's model) was passed onto us girls and Mum gave the treadle away. Its something she has always regretted and I would love to replace it for her. Its just a question of finding the right machine at the right price! Old Singer treadle sewing machines sell between four to seven hundred dollars here depending on the quality. Needless to say Nan's machine was in great condition.

I'm enjoying the hunt. I love looking at old machines and wondering about the stories they could tell. I'm sure your Mum will enjoy hers.

I would love to find a treadle, even with the memories of smashed toes when your feet slip off
Gram would say "that's why we wear our shoes when we sew."
I told mom what I got her, she came right over and got it, a hours drive and told me I could come over there to put the new wires on it when they came in. I think she liked it

Kat what a great daughter you are. Its so hard to find gifts that people will really apreciate espically if they are older as they usually have everything.
So glad your mom loved your gift.
