Good morning all! Our weather is gorgeous here today but looks like Easter will bring more rain.
Meg, I hope your truck is better soon! And Patti, been there and hope yours passes soon!

The day has gone from bad to worse. DS2 went over to visit his grandfather, you know, the one who DOESN'T have Alzheimers. Grandpa turned the water on in the kitchen sink, walked away and flooded his basement!

Doug has made two trips back home to get the de-humidifier and the shop vac to get up some of water.

Meg, So sorry about the truck and the flooded basement. Hope nothing else happens to ruin the day and that your phone calls go well.

Patti, hope you are feeling better now. The loss of someone close to us is bad enough without being so ill immediately after.

I just got a call for one of my doctors that medicare still doesn't have it's act together about who is primary and secondary and isn't paying anything. We changed insurance on Feb 1, 2008 and I've spent hours on the phone trying to get it straight with them. They have the companies straight but now have the dates wrong. Guess I'm going to have to spend several more hours on the phone with them when I need to be cleaning house for the weekend. Supposed to have some people coming to see the house. A buyer, maybe???

It isn't good morning anymore, but it's good news, anyway Smile

I almost have all the blocks pieced for quilt #1 of 7 Smile I will finish piecing them in the morning, 1/4 the 9-patches, and get that top put together! Then, of course, I'll start on #2 of 7.

I managed to get a little housework done today, as well. And I got DS1s fax machine set up so his office can fax his routes on a daily basis.

Well, I think I'll get to bed early tonite, as last nite was yet another nearly sleepless one! If I don't sleep tonite, I'll have to nap tomorrow & that would cut into sewing time!

Meg - hope you have a better day today - it's really hard when you have to look after old folk who 'don't' have Alzheimers. I had my father-in-law stay with me for 12 years - he was an alcoholic and a heavy smoker - well we coped with that but the hardest was when his mind started going. We never knew what we'd find when we got home - in retrospect one can laugh but at the time it was mighty frustrating.

I did a really bad thing yesterday. I was really aggrevated about my 18 year-old over there trying to deal with this mess by himself. My FIL, the one who DOESN'T have Alzheimer's, doesn't speak to DH or myself anymore because we do not concur with his self-diagnosis.

Doug has never dealt with insurance cpmpanies before and it sounds as though they need to be involved. Apparently the water ran for long that the paneling on the basement walls fell down- that's bad!

I called both of the cousins who interfered last winter and ripped into them about they needed to go over and call about the homeowner's insurance and get a professional team out there cleaning this up instead of relying on a kid to do it. FIL and the cousins think I am a witch so at least I have earned the reputation; or as my mother says, even a witch can be right! LOL

Doug says some of the upholstered furniture is completely drenched and he is worried about the pool table warping. He learned to play pool on that table and is invested emotionally in it.

I guess one of the cousins did show up. Doug was so tired when he got home, he couldn't think straight so I will have to wait until he gets up to find out more. I am going to wait until Sunday when we go to SIL's. She will have a ton of questions and he will have had enough down time to digest everything himself.

Oh, Meg, {{{{hugs}}}} ... I hope things get better for you soon ...

My Mom when she was on her own in the end would do things like this ... and she was actually very sharp about a lot of things ... but we just never knew what she would do or leave on ... it was the water at least once and the stove once ... just could not leave her alone after that anymore.

It is a cold and sunny and breezy morning here, but not as windy as last night.

Carole, WTG with the memory quilt progress! You are well on your way to meet your deadline, now.

I have some time to spend with my sewing machine today and I am taking it ...

Happy Quilting! Smile Pat

Thanks again Kim, for putting this thread back up. Smile

Patti, I hope you and dd are feeling much better now. Sorry for your loss.

More ((hugs)) Meg, sorry about the basement flooding.

Barb, ugh to the insurance problems, hope they straighten out.

Carole, make sure you take a picture of that quilt top. I am anxious to see what they are going to look like.

Have a great day all,

Meg, my MIL "didn't" have Alzheimer's either, she was just getting old...until BIL came to visit once & made the observation that "mom's not right" -- to the dr's they went...low & behold, YES, she DOES have Alzheimer's. <Just for the record, I said she had Alzheimer's a good 5 years before DH & BIL came on board - ugh>... It's great that you called the cousins - I would've done the same thing!

I'm going to check the boards, get some laundry going, and fire up the iron & sewing machine Smile

Hope everyone has a super-wonderful day!
