Meg, I'm sorry you are having FIL issues. I can see it looming in my future with my dad.

Barb, glad to hear your DH is doing well after his surgery. This was carpal tunnel, wasn't it? I've had both my wrists done, so I know what he's going through if that's what it was. My left hand base of my thumb still complains a bit and it has been 5 years.

We are still under winter's heavy hand. Supposed to be dumped on with some snow this weekend.
I've been fighting a cold all week, have hardly stirred from the house. Haven't had any energy to do anything tho, so all I've managed is to read a pile of books.

Maybe today the sewing will call loud enough to be heard. Big Grin
Can't do anything outside yet anyway. There is still a good foot of snow on the ground.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning!

Snowing here right now. Sleeting/freezing rain earlier. Driving during morning commute was not fun for DH and DS1 and the other people on the road while traffic crawled. We only have about an inch and a half, now, though. It is the big puffly flakes that are so pretty and stick to the trees.

I am staying inside with my computer and sewing machine today.

Nola ... you hit the nail on the head here ~~~> "It's hard, because no one wants to lose their independence - but there comes a time when a person's safety and other people's safety has to come first." That is what matters.

Does not make it easy on those who have to make the decisions or stand by and watch, though. So hard to see someone you care for in such a state. So sad that relationships are ruined so late in life. It can take a long time, I know, to get to the place where you can remember the good times in life and let the rest go.

Patti, I do not think I would want to have a foot of snow left on the ground at this point. Yet, I do love to watch the seasons come and go. Do you have a very short summer there?

Carole ... I love the memory quilt top! The fabrics are so interesting and varied and colorful. What a wonderful way to remember. <3 <3 <3

Off to sew I go ...

Happy Quilting Smile Pat

Meg
So glad to hear your niece and her hubby got through the surgery and praying for the results to be good and clean for him.

Keep my hubby in your prayers ladies he is going for his 3 month diabetic check up and he has had some good days but receltly several very bad days with hus neuropathy and we are hoping today the doc can see what to do with his night meds ~ he is thiniing they are want is giving him his bad days after he takes the night med~he has left them off a few times forgotten or something and he seems to have better days so we don't know if it is the night med itself or just over medicated!!! We do need some relief for him his neuropathy was great for a bit then meds switched so now he is trading them back to before meds and hoping to get better results from that. I know it all sounds confusing you should see us eadling with it~~~NOT knowing what is triggering his pain.

It is to be cold and rainy here but we will have a parking deck to park at the docs office there so that is a blessing but other errands will be done if the rain if it is momentarily raining`can never tell about spring showers coming and going in different spots.

Have a blessed day ladies and gents.
Deb

PS Do you have a close up ic of the quilt top it is full of beautiful colors.

Carole! That top came out gorgeous! I like the way you used the dice fabric in the center. Was that the plan or did it just fall into place like that?

Finally got my tax info off to the accountant today. I'm so glad that's over.

Thanks for all the nice remarks about my quilt top...I don't remember who asked for the close up, but I'll take another pic of it close up (I didn't think about that!)...I think it would be fun to document the memorable fabrics by doing close ups with a description of those fabrics...ALWAYS some idea to make my projects last longer LOL.

I do plan to quilt it myself, at least partially! When I get all 7 sandwiched, I have a group of gals from church all lined up to gather & help get them quilted Smile

The dice in the center were planned - lol. My grandma LOVED to play yahtzee Smile I struggled with the layout & had to close the bedroom door on it for a couple hours...finally went back & started with the center piece & worked my way around.

I've almost got all the blocks pieced for #2, so I'm moving right along! I'm still shooting for Mother's Day, but I just found out that my brothers are probably not going to make it for Mother's Day, so I could have an extension on those 2 Smile I'm still shooting for all 7 by that date, though.

We had light sprinkles today, not the rain they said, but it's still very grey with great potential for precipitation...we do still need it!

I fixed a big pot of split pea soup (sorry Becca, lol) for dinner...it smells sooo good! If dh doesn't get home soon, I'll be eating without him, lol.

Hope everyone has a great evening!

Good Night,

I have had a busy day. My DD came here this morning and we had a "Me and My Girl" day ... one of my favorite things. Smile

We even visited a quilt shop on our expedition. I am happy to report that I was not the only one who fell under the spell of the magical fabric there. My Girl bought a flannel charm pack to make a cuddle quilt and a blue Moda "Daydreams" panel and some fat quarters to make a wall-hanging. She asked me for ideas on what to do with the charm pack ... I suggested a Disappearing 9-Patch plan ... and she wanted me to show her how to hand sew it. So I gave her a mini-lesson of what I have basically just learned so far myself in my hand-quilting classes. It was the "Giggles" baby flannel. I imagine this is going to cause a stir in her dorm ... as in why is she sewing a baby quilt top? The answer is actually just because she really loves flannel and she has no idea who she is making it for. Nonetheless, I am sure it shall be quite the conversation piece. Big Grin

So I did not get much sewing done. I did finish sewing on the patched border of the BC Grape Basket quilt that I intend to use as the center medallion in a larger quilt. Picture can be found in Gerda's Grape Basket topic in the announcements section. I have the fabric laid out to cut and sew more tomorrow on this, but for now it is time for sleep ... Sleep Pat

Went to early church this morning. Am ready to go back to bed, but I know I'd better crack the whip and get things done around here. DH is home today, and there is a hockey game on at one. If I don't get some honey-do work out of him now, I can just forget getting anything done! LOL Have a great day all.

Good Morning!

Time for a cup of coffee and checking out the forums. Mmmmm ...Coffee caramel vanilla nut flavored ...yummy

Cold and sunny here today ... and very quiet. My DH went into work for a few hours. He likes to start his week on Sunday when the office is quiet and he can work uninterupted. He knows I also have one or two honey-do jobs waiting for him when he gets home. Maybe I will make chocolate chip cookies, his favorite, as a thank you treat.

Then shortly I will be sewing on my top again. I am laying out fabric for possible settings and borders. I think this quilt will finish up at about 46" square. Would make a nice spring baby quilt, but I think it is going to be warmimg one of my walls in my dining/sewing room ... at least for awhile.

I bought some fabric for a baby quilt yesterday ... "Little Blessings" ... cute fabric. You can see the free pattern if you scroll down about 20 quilts down on this page: http://www.andoverfabrics.com/QuiltDesigns/QuiltDesigns.asp

Jacqui, I am glad the sun is shining on you for a change. It sounds like your winter has been just awful weatherwise.

Meg, aren't you the early one!

Happy Quilting, everyone! Smile Pat

Good Morning all! It sounds like everyone has some nice plans for today. Me, I will be re-doing my filing cabinet. New folders and hanging folders. It was time to get it cleaned out and more organized. I have people coming over for dinner so I need to get ready for that also. If there's time and I finish getting my office cleaned up I think I'll work on some more blocks for the quilt I'm making. Anyone want to do the organizing for me?..lol. I'm no good and it and don't like doing it much. Things usually end up in baskets, boxes or piles.
