Good morning.

March "leaving like a lion" stormy weather last night and today. Not as much snowfall as they told us to expect. But LOTS of wind. It's made the power wink off and on a couple times already this morning.

scrapatches ... we have a pretty short summer if you count it as 'growing season' Have to plant seed varieties that mature quickly.
Lots of interesting designs on that website you posted.

I spent yesterday doing my parent's income tax returns as they FINALLY received the last receipt for an investment interest. They are supposed to all be out by the end of February. Have a bit to finish on Mom's and then I can get them back to them to mail sometime this week.

Speaking of 'honey-do' ... it is DH's school spring break this week. He has a list. Big Grin

Have a great day! Stay safe and dry where ever you are.

Work has been keeping me extremely busy lately. I miss talking with everyone. Maybe one day it will slow down a little.

Hello, all!

Been a busy couple days for me...

DS1 was in a car wreck on Saturday morning - is ok after 3 hr surgery, a plate, some pins & a screw...and a hefty splint/brace that goes from foot to hip.

I got to stay in his room on a nifty window seat sleeping area Smile We brought him home last night & he's resting semi-comfortably ----> over there. It's going to be a long haul before he's even close to back to his normal activities, but he realizes how lucky he is to even still be here! <He was pinned & it took 40 minutes to extricate>

ANYWHO, I haven't touched my quilty stuff since Friday nite & am going thru withdrawls, I think. I will work on blocks for quilt #2 a bit today, hopefully complete the blocks. I have to DS1 to sign some papers & pick up $1000 worth of personal tools that were in his work van...so another long trip for him in the car (thank heaven for good pain pills!).

Now I have to get creative on how to keep DS1 from going completely nutty while he's laid up. We moved a tv into the dining room (he's on a futon in there...best place for him) so he can watch movies. Unfortunately, he's not a reader (he's really missing out!), so I'll be picking up some magazines for him today & making sure the handheld games have fresh batteries, lol.

For now, I think I'll go back to bed for a couple hours & get caught up on all those hours I missed while at the hospital Wink

Oh, Carole ... {{{{{hugs}}}} ... I am so sorry hear about your son's accident. I can't imagine what you have been going through. Thank God that he is home with you recovering now.

Two years ago my DD had an accident ... (on a high mountain pass in the snow in VT coming to visit us ... when it had been a glorious fall day in MA when she had left)... hit a patch of ice, had her anti-lock brakes lock, and did a 180 and caught the last bit of guardrail instead of going down a 50 foot embankment into the trees. Her car was totaled but she was not hurt. I still vividly remember that feeling when she called me to say she had been in an accident but she was "allright." Then I had to get my DH at work and tell him and his cellphone did not work in the building where he was and I had to call the office and since it was afterhours and the person who answered did not know how or where to page him, he had to hand deliver the message. When my DH finally called me back all he could say was, "I know you told him to tell me she was allright, but what do you mean by allright ... in the hospital but going to live allright or not hurt allright?" "All right" is such a relative term.

It must have been so scary for you while he was trapped and in surgery. I am sure you have been doing the strong "everything will be okay" Mom thing during all of this but when you are alone you go into meltdown with the "what if's" and "that was too close" and "how can I help my child" shakes. If you need a shoulder or two, remember we are here and we love you.

You have had such a tough year so far. I pray God will bless you, take you and your family into His care and comfort and help you and your son and your family face this new challenge. May your son heal and be well and whole again soon.

Would your son like books on tape maybe? You could maybe take something you think he might like out of the library and the book to go with it and see if he might like it?

Does he like puzzles? Sounds like he is good with his hands so he might. My DS2 loves those metal puzzle rings and devices where you have to take out the ring, remove the key, etc.

Sounds like he needs a hobby. Does he have one?

Maybe you should teach him to sew ... he could help you with the memory quilts ... I am only half joking here.

On the homefront, here ... it is snowing ... Snowing nothing much really ... but it is damp and cold and my aches and stiffness have been bothering me all night. I had to take the two ibuprophen just to get my fingers working this morning. I can't even think about getting outside today and I think I finally have a full-blown sinus infection. I get these sinus things sometimes at this time of year ... allergic to mold or something that comes out in mud season and after all the closed house all winter, my system is down and I am prone to a sinus flare-up. Saline drops and spray are not helping one bit today. Okay, I am done ... no thanks, I would not like cheese with my whine. I'll stick to my coffee anyway ... Coffee

I am still woking on my flower basket quilt ... as much as the stiffness will allow ...

I will feel much better when I sew ... Smile Pat

Carol-

So sorry to hear of your son's difficulties. Hope he is on the mend, will be keeping you family in my thoughts. How scary that phone call must have been for you!

Everytime my boy walks out the door, I brace myself..... He is not a bad driver, but he is just young enough and inexperienced enough to be arrogant enough to beleive that if he has the right of way, everyone else will respect that! Sheeesh! We are working on "discretion is the better part of valor."

I'd say since you have a captive audience, this is the perfect time to introduce him to a needle and thread. Not manly enough? Tell him about our Patrick Lose, and Ricky Timms, etc. Remind him that Roosevelt Grier needlepointed to relax before games. Give him some graph paper and let him design a quilt for you to make together.

I agree Carole, if he is captive anyway, put a needle in his hands and wheel him into that quilting bee!

I am so glad he is going to be OKAY!
