So I pulled sunflower plants on Thurs/Friday. Have too many so need to thin them out before they bloom. Tried to pull the larger ones and nope...firmly planted! Knew I was being scratch from the hairy stalks but didn't know I would break out in an itchy rash. Only on the right arm which is the only part of my body that was scratch. Reason for the post?

Anyone know of an over the counter aid other than antihistimye (sp) that will help? Tried hydrocortozie cream...nope. Do I just have to wait this out?

I go through gallons of the clear Caladryl every summer for sunburn, bites, and contact rashes to plants. I keep the bottle in the refrigerator. That cool liquid numbs the skin as you dab it on and feels so soothing even before the benadryl starts to work.

Just a thought,
I wonder if the oatmeal bath stuff would work. I know that it works for chickenpox.\

I have used the clear Caladryl, too, and it works wonders. I never thought of putting it in the fridge, but I'm going to try it. Hope you feel better soon. Having a rash can be really uncomfortable in this heat.

Cassie-

I also keep Noxema in the fridge for the same purpose. My boys are very fair, but too macho to wear sunscreen. I have been doing this for nearly 30 years.

I like clear caladryl or even just clear aloe for sunburns, insect bites, rashes ... I have a small bottle in the "summer" tote bag, along with the sunscreen and insect repellant, that I carry to picnics, beaches, ball games, etc.

Meg ... I also put a bottle in the fridge ... GMTA Big Grin

Caladryl is great stuff!! We use it faithfully, as well.
