Hi everyone! Looks like everyone's been busy! I finished up the big brown quilt this weekend and started cutting on my next one already. Looks like I'm going to have to wait on it for a while though because Joey just called and will be at my house within a week. And after all the duct work from the weekend, I have lots of dusting to do! That means his mother will be coming, and MY mother too! Barb that is too funny about snoring. I have done that too but not with a witness. Dorian how in the world did you do that? Sounds painful! Pat, I'm glad you got to have some fun before you got sick. Poor girl! I love your table topper but just can't even look at something new right now. Hi Denise, great pictures! I still haven't made it all the way thru yet cause Joey called right in the middle of them and I got a little excited. Deb, I'm still in on the fabric, I will pm you and we can get our order together. Hi Meg, welcome back! Glad to see everyone checking in here. I was beginning to worry. Howdys to any one else that I missed!

Glad you're back Meg. Was wondering if you were ill. Glad it wasn't that, but no internet is almost as bad. I didn't get any sewing done yesterday. I had such a hangover from the very strong antihistamine that I took when I went to bed, I was afraid of handling any sharp objects, like rotary cutters. So, I just sorted out some fabric and found ones to use for the November Happy Blocks and possible ones for December. Can't tell you about those yet. So, I dug out some yarn I've had for a few years and started a sweater for me. I hope I was awake enough that I figured out the right number of stitches for it. Today has been much better. We went out for breakfast and then checked out the new Lowe's. They just opened one in our little podunk town a little over a week ago. It sure is nice and the people that work in it have to all be transferees from other stores and not from here, they are too nice and helpful. I sure was drooling over the washers, dryers, and refrigerators. I keep thinking of my fridge as new, but it's almost 20 years old. It stays with the house when we move as we listed "all kitchen appliances" on the sales listing. No problem, I really do want a new one. The washer and dryer are only about 6 years old but I sure would like one of those new front loaders. My DSIL got one last year and it's so nice. She can wash the comforter off her kingsize bed in it without any problems. That would be so nice. Did a little grocery shopping before we came home and DH made a pot of yummy chili for dinner tonight. He's a real keeper, and a great cook. I'm crossing my fingers that everything will go through without any problems with the house. Our agent called us this afternoon and the people that want to buy our house have a sales contract on theirs as of this afternoon. Now, we just have to see if their buyer can get the financing for all of this to take place. They want to be closed and moved by the first week of December, if possible. I'm all for that. But, we need to find a new house. We have several on our short list to go look at as soon as we get the word that their deal is going through. Guess I have a lot of work in front of me. Now to go and eat my bowl of chili and get ready for some tv watching. Not sure if it will be "Dancing With The Stars" or Monday Night Football. Either way is fine with me. Pat, hope you are feeling better soon. Hugs, Barb Mcf

The day's almost over and no sewing yet. But, I did manage to get to the bank and get the process started to be preapproved for a loan so that house hunting will go a little easier. Also gives us more negotiating power when it comes to price. I'm just waiting for our agent to call and let us know if our buyer has a closing date set for their house. Spent most of the last hour on the internet looking at houses. Have it narrowed down to five that we want to go look at. There are two that if they are even half as nice as they look in the pictures will work well for us. Now to just get the go ahead to start the buying and packing. Today has been a beautiful fall day, warm with sun and a light breeze. I've had the windows and doors open to air out the house from the smells from chili making yesterday. I love the smell of the chili while it's cooking, but not leftover smells the next day. Also, the mountain next to us is really beginning to show color spots among the trees. We get a lot of color but not like New England as our forests are at least half evergreens. But, it's still very pretty. Now it's time to get off this computer and get busy with the normal paperwork of keeping a household running, bill paying, yukk. Oh well, at least we're able to pay our bills. I should be very thankful for that right now. Have a great evening. Barb Mcf

Grandma's Choice

I missed checking in on everyone yesterday. I went straight from work to the hospital to sit with my mom overnite, then straight to work this morning. Boy, I'm bushed. trying to keep my eyes open long enough to get through the postings. Mom has parkinsons and has been having difficulties breathing and swallowing. Then she has a panic episode, which means she hyperventilates, and her blood oxygen levels drop, and her blood pressure and heart rate go sky high. they finally admitted her after 5 trips to ER in 7 days. They wired her up for a 24 hour EEG/EKG with video tape. Quite a setup! with the night vision camera, I felt like I was on survivor all nite. Mom was really restless, trying to get out of bed, disconnecting wires, and pulling all the tape off her IV. Thank goodness, she didn't do too much damage, but I didn't get any sleep to speak of. Maybe an hour or two... She had a much better day today and one of my sisters is taking tonite's shift. I'm ready for a nap, but dh is making me dinner.

My goodness Denise, you sure do deserve a really good night's sleep. Hope they are able to use the info from the 24 hour test and help your mom. Got a call from our real estate agent late this afternoon. It seems like our buyer has a Nov. 7 closing date on their house and wants to close on our house the same day. Guess I will definitely be house hunting this week, either Thursday or Friday. Need to start rounding up the boxes and packing things up. I think we are going to rent one of those storage units in the town we are moving to and start taking stuff there every time we make a trip there until we are able to move into a new house. It will be so nice to be in a smaller house with a smaller yard and closer to our families. And, I hope it's the last time we have to move. Hugs, Barb Mcf

Denise, I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. We will be saying prayers for her and your family, for strength during all this chaos. I know going without sleep alone is hard enough! I am hoping things will get better for you soon. Barb, looks like you better get to packing! Oh my that was fast! At least you will have a little more time to settle in before Christmas. Want us to come help? I'm sure we could have you packed up in no time! And if Howard is cooking we might just stick around long enough to help you unpack! Pat, darlin' I hope you get better soon! We are missing you something awful around here! Group hug everyone for Pat! I was looking at Denise's Dresden Plate quilt and realized that's what your table topper reminds me of. I just got off the phone with Joey, it's so nice that we can call each other whenever we want to now! Of course he has all kinds of things for me to do before he gets here. Oh and his birthday is the 19th so how's that for timing? Jacqui, did you find the right fishies today? Sure had fun playing in the water with you! I didn't get much done tonight. Bill had to cut one last hole in my ceiling and boy was it a messy one. Seems we still have lathe and plaster in this old house. He cut a big hole for the return air and there was cement and sheetrock dust flying everywhere. I'm not complaining, it has to be done. Thank goodness this was the last one. Now I can start cleaning, but as you can see, I'm playing on BC instead.

Jenell, I understand about all of the drywall dust everywhere. When we moved into this house 7 years ago, we added on to it. For three months I lived with that. But, it was worth it in the end. I'm sure you will think so to when it's all over. Our agent came by this morning and said that our buyer's banker had called and told him that everything was approved and for us to proceed with our purchase of another house. Looks like we have a Nov. 7 closing date. If he can get it all set up, we are going to be looking at houses on Friday. So, today is spent getting everything ready for the quilt retreat next week. I'll really have to hit the ground running when I get back. I've decided that I'm just going to pack everything in boxes and sort it out when I unpack. Don't have time to do a lot of sorting right now. I'm sitting here shivering as I type. It's gray, cool and rainy. We need the rain so I'm not complaining. Just wish it wasn't 60 degrees. A little warmer would be nice. I'm trying to hold off turning on the furnace as long as possible as this is such a big house to try to heat. Really uses up the propane in a hurry. That's another thing I'm going to like about having a smaller house, lower utility bills. Well, I'd better get off this computer and get back to work. Need to get the instructions written up for the "mini tote" that we're going to do at the retreat. I'll try to get a photo of it later. I'm pretty proud of my first attempt to design something from scratch. Have a great day. Barb Mcf

It is going to be a little busy moving right before the holidays. My mother's birthday is on Thanksgiving this year so we will be going there. And, we had already planned on going to Howard's neice's in Missouri for Christmas. So, I won't have to be in a rush to get the house completely settled and decorated for the holidays this year. A wreath on the door may have to be all of my decorating this year, if I can find where I packed it. Pat, chicken soup and an early night sound good to me right now too. Hope you are feeling better soon. Barb Mcf
