Good morning,

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. It's been a busy week for us. Went to Dh's Dr on Monday, mine on Tues. Was able to sit at home and play with fabric yesterday and today though Smile but back to Drs tomorrow. This one is down in Sac, a good 2-2.5 hr drive. ugh.

Jenell, I am not quite sure how I managed to get my finger with the needle. I was guiding the fabric like I always do, and that needle just jumped out of line and bite me Confused But it was feeling fine the next day. I'm glad you got your brown quilt done, hurray!! Sounds like a good visit coming up, enjoy.

Barb, toes crossed for you and the house deals. I hope you find one you like real soon. I like the the color of Fall leaves mingled with the green of the conifers. It's so much prettier with the green in there...I think Smile

((Denise)) I'm sorry for the problems with your Mom. My prayers to her and your family.

Chicken soup and an early night...sounds like a good plan Pat. Hope you accomplished it and are feeling better today. Looks like you're getting buried in snow Wink Can't wait to see all the lovely snow fabric!

Hello to everyone else, hope you're having a good Fall, quilty day.

Dorian

Hi BC friends I am back. The long drive to Idaho went smooth. We did stop at a hotel for the night. Had to leave all my big plants but My bil will take care of them. I showed his daughter Devin how to remove the yellow leaves and to spray them. She is so proud of herself now. The house is old and so much smaller than my house. But we love it. It has a lot of wood on the walls and the old shag carpet in the bedrooms. I have been cleaning cob webs and wood floors for days now. The owner said I could paint the bed rooms. It needs some love inside and out. I have most of the stuff unpacked and we are trying to do 5 boxes a day. The pond in the front yard is old and has a leak. We asked if we can fill it in and plant blubs they said go for it and do what we want. I was so ecited about that. My dog (Jack) now knows what cows are. The farmer has 30 or more and he stands and barks at them. We opend the back door to the wood shop and he ran out and sank into mud and poop up to his chest. He just stood their and looked back at us. He wouldn't move Lyle had to walk out into it and get him. Welcome to the country. I have so much to do but wanted to let all of you know that we are safe and fine. I have missed visiting with you all. It has been so nice to just drive a few miles and see my kids and grandkids. Went to a scocker game last night with the family. I do think this was the right thing for us to do. I will check back later thanks for being my friends and I hope all is well for you and yours.

Welcome back Laura! It sounds like a wonderful place to be! I love the dog story, and for some reason I have the theme song from Green Acres running thru my head! Big Grin

Didn't you just celebrate an anniversary, Laura? I can't think of anything more romantic than combing cow manure out of the dog's coat together! hehehehe Razz Big Grin Roll Eyes DH and I have had some romantic anniversaries too, cleaning the mold out of my invalid sister's basement when it flooded, as an example.

Sounds like you have found a little slice of heaven and being closer to family is a plus, too!

Laura, Welcome back and glad you had a safe drive. I agree with Jenell, I can just here the music from Green Acres. And the dog story, that sounds just like our dogs. Our neighbor has cows and they just stand at the fence and bark and bark and the cows totally ignore them. After awhile the dogs give up and go lay down in the sun. I know you are going to really enjoy being closer to family and the grandkids.

Dorian, be safe with all of that driving to Dr. appointments. I hope everything is ok and no problems show up. DH and I think that going to see the Dr. is his new job since he retired. Big Grin I'd rather do something else, like going to the LQS.

Our agent called this morning to let us know that he got our preapporval letter for the mortgage and we will be seeing all six of the houses we had picked out from the web site tomorrow. It's going to be a long day but I hope it ends with us making an offer on one of those houses. I'm really beginning to get excited.

I think this house situation has energized me. I went into the sewing room last night and made 16 Happy Blocks, 8 for November and 8 for December. No, the theme for December hasn't been announced yet but since I get to choose it, I had to get the blocks made so photos can be posted. If you haven't joined in the fun of the Happy Block swap, check it out. They are as addictive as any potato chip or chocolate candy could ever be. And, so easy to make.

The sun is trying to come out today and it's already warmer than it ever got yesterday. So I'm off to spend time with my sewing machine and maybe even sort out some quilt books.

Have a great day, Barb Mcf Girl

Good Afternoon!

I am feeling much improved today! Sporty I may even get to actually enjoy dinner tonight. The cold symptoms are getting no worse ... these may just be seasonal allergies. Smile Thank you all for the well wishes. Smile

Barb ... Happy Home Hunting! Yippee! Looking forward to hearing the November Happy Block theme! Only a few more days. These blocks are just like potato chips and chocolates. More is so much fun. Big Grin Big Grin

Laura ... so good to hear that you arrived safely and are settling into your new home and that you will be able to plant and paint and to make it your own. A belated Happy Anniversary and may you have many, many more. Enjoy having your family close.

Well ... I think I am going to go do some sewing ... Big Grin

Pat

Well, I've got the theme selected and the blocks made ready to be posted at the right time. You will just have to wait. I know, it's not fair to tease you with it. Big Grin But, that's the way it is sometimes.

I did spend most of the afternoon in the sewing room today. I got started on Christmas gifts. For some of the nieces and nephews, I'm giving them those little travel size pillows and two pillow cases for them. Those pillowcases are so much fun to make. I made one with Spiderman and have some of the fabric from the movie "Cars" to make another. I got seven made and need to make another five. I'll take pictures of them later.

Will check in tomorrow night and let you know how house hunting went.

Sleep tight, Barb Mcf Sleep

Hi, Laura! I'm glad you are safely moved! A word of advice (though I'm sure your kids have already mentioned it) - LAYERS!! It can be below the freezing point in the mornings, and get warmer during the day, before getting colder again at night. It takes some getting used to, especially if you've never lived in a cold climate before, but I love it! Now, if only our winters up here would be a couple months shorter! Your vehicle(s) will likely need a block warmer, too, that you plug in overnight to keep the oil thin. We need them up here, and I'm not that far north (near Edmonton). Ask your son(s) if it's necessary in Idaho. Warm boots, mittens and tuques (Knitted caps to you Americans Big Grin). You will love it! And I got my last bulbs in yesterday - crocus bulbs in the lawn - seems every third or fourth hole I dug, I hit a rock! Frown That's often called a "crop" up here! So many rocks! Farmers who have farmed for decades still pull them up every spring).

You'll do fine, and it's worth it to be close to kids and grands.
Hey, don't the mountains in Arizona get some snow on them? It's cold, wet, beautiful stuff!! Ours up here is dry and powdery, so it's not good for snowmen or snowballs, unless we get some warm temps, but it's definitely easier to shovel - very light. I don't have a clue what kind you'll get there, though. I'm talking prairies here, like Montana and the Dakotas.

Well, I'd better get off here, and get a couple things done before going for groceries and grandgirls. Have a great weekend!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! to all the Canadian gals here. I hope you have all your family with you. Safe travels, too!! SmileSmile Don't get too stuffed, now! Big Grin

Where's the turkey icon when you need one?!? Smile

Just a quick note to let you know that WE DID IT. Yippee! We signed the contract today on a new house. Well, new to us. It's three years old, all brick, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a bonus room over the two car garage that I'm going to turn into my sewing room. DH loves the kitchen so we're both happy. Will close on our current house Nov. 7 and have 14 days to move. Plan on closing on new house no later than Nov 10 and current owners have until Nov 15 to move. So lots to do in a short time as we are downsizing, big time.

It was a long day and I'm so tired I can barely remember which keys to hit to type coherent words. Big Grin So, I'm off to go to bed. Tomorrow starts the wild and crazy days of packing, except for the 5 days that I'll be gone next week. I'll check in tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
